The countdown to the Tracker Season 3 finale is officially over. CBS has set the release date for the penultimate episode, which brings back a fan-favorite character right before the big season ender.
Episode 21, titled “Chrono Stasis,” arrives on Sunday, May 17. The episode airs at 9 p.m. ET on CBS, keeping its regular Sunday night slot. This marks the first of the final two episodes of the season, with the finale scheduled to follow on May 24.

Jensen Ackles Returns As Russell Shaw For The Season 3 Ending
Jensen Ackles is back as Russell Shaw, Colter’s brother. He appears in both Episode 21 and the Season 3 finale. This gives viewers a two-episode arc featuring the Shaw brothers working together.
Ackles previously appeared in two episodes at the start of Season 3. His return for the ending completes a full-circle moment for the character this season. The actor, known for his long run on Supernatural, joins the show’s main cast including Justin Hartley (Colter Shaw), Fiona Rene (Reenie Greene), and Chris Lee.
What Happens In Tracker Season 3 Episode 21
The official episode synopsis states that Colter and Russell join forces for a personal mission to uncover their father’s mysterious work. This ties directly into the larger family mystery that has been building throughout Season 3.
The episode title “Chrono Stasis” refers to the name of a now-defunct research facility. In Episode 18, Colter learned that his father Ashton Shaw had connections to this facility before his death. The facility, located in Alaska, was allegedly backed by government contractors and shut down after a mysterious accident.
Jeri Ryan guest stars as Dr. Serena Jukic, a researcher who worked at the facility and may hold key answers about what really happened. The episode also features Jerry Trimble as a character named Paul.

The Shaw Brothers Take On Their Father’s Unfinished Work
The mystery surrounding Ashton Shaw’s death has been the season’s biggest question. Episode 21 pushes Colter and Russell deeper into the truth.
In Episode 18, Colter tracked down Buck Avery (Michael O’Neill), who revealed that Ashton was involved with the Chrono Stasis Institute. The facility was researching something connected to a government project. An “accident” occurred, and the entire operation disappeared.
The promotional teaser for Episode 21 hints that Colter’s father may have been trying to shut down the facility and rescue people inside. This sets up a dangerous path for both brothers as they retrace their father’s final steps.
Episode 22, the season finale titled “The Best Ones,” continues this story. The finale synopsis says Colter and Russell search for a victim connected to a harmful research project. The two episodes together form one complete storyline about the Shaw family’s hidden past.

What To Expect Before The Season Finale
Episode 21 serves as the setup for the May 24 finale. The Shaw brothers working together brings a different dynamic to the show. Russell has connections and skills that Colter does not have, making them a stronger team.
The episode also likely reveals more about Dr. Serena Jukic’s role in the Chrono Stasis incident. Whether she is a witness, a target, or something else remains unclear. But she clearly holds information that both brothers need.
With only two episodes left in Season 3, the answers about Ashton Shaw’s murder are finally coming.
