A viral story from a decade-old Bollywood film has been firmly rejected by actor-comedian Vir Das. The claim suggested that his co-star Kangana Ranaut injured him during a kissing scene in their 2014 movie Revolver Rani. Das took to social media to call the entire story “pure fiction” and praised Ranaut’s professionalism on set.

Vir Das Shuts Down Viral Rumors on Social Media

On June 28, 2026, Vir Das responded to the resurfaced allegations on X, formerly known as Twitter. The rumors gained traction after journalist Simi Chandoke made the claim during an appearance on Siddharth Kannan’s podcast. She alleged that Ranaut continued kissing Das even after the director called “cut,” and that she bit his lip so hard it started bleeding.

Das firmly rejected the narrative in his post: “Right. Just so we are clear. This story is pure fiction. Kangana was a complete professional and I still maintain, a truly gifted artist. This is unfair slander to her. She went on to call me a terrorist a few years later for my comedy but on setโ€ฆno problems at all.”

His response came after a fan asked why he had not spoken up about the journalist’s statement. Das’s post quickly went viral, gathering over 469,000 views on the platform.

The Podcast Claim That Sparked the Controversy

The controversy began when journalist Simi Chandoke shared the anecdote on a podcast. She claimed: “Vir Das ko apne podcast pe laayi. Shayad woh ro padega, thinking of that traumatic time he went through. When she was shooting for Revolver Rani, the scene required her to kiss him deeply. Woh bhul gayi. Scene khatam ho gaya, continuedโ€ฆ Bichare ka lip kaatke khoon-khoon kar diya usko.”

The story quickly spread across social media platforms, prompting fans to ask Das about the incident. This is not the first time such claims have emerged. Similar posts went viral in 2023, with Ranaut addressing them at the time.

Kangana Ranaut Reacts to Das’s Defense

After Vir Das defended her, Kangana Ranaut responded on X, thanking him while strongly dismissing the allegations and the person behind them. She wrote: “Thanks Vir, but who is she? Ewww, seems like some weirdo using us to satisfy her demonic s** fantasies. I am eating your blood and you are traumatised and crying even today after a decade. How random.”

This reaction matches her previous response when similar rumors surfaced in 2023. Back then, Ranaut posted on Instagram: “After Hrithik Roshan I assaulted poor Vir Das?? Yeh kab hua (When did that happen)??” with laughing emojis.

The History Between Vir Das and Kangana Ranaut

The two actors have had a complicated public relationship. While Das defended Ranaut’s professionalism on the sets of Revolver Rani, he also mentioned their later clash. In 2021, Ranaut criticized Das’s comedy special “I Come From Two Indias,” which was recorded at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. She called it “soft terrorism” on Instagram, while Das maintained his work was satire about duality within nations rather than an attack on the country.

Despite this public falling out, Das made it clear that their working relationship on the film remained professional with no issues between them during the shoot.
