The intense psychological thriller Watching You has finally arrived on Disney+ for global audiences, and viewers are looking for answers about its shocking final episode. The Australian series, which first debuted on Stan in October 2025, dropped on Disney+ on February 20, 2026, and has people talking about the fates of the two main antagonists .

The show, based on the book The Last Guests by J.P. Pomare, follows Lina (Aisha Dee), a woman who discovers that her passionate one-night stand with a mysterious man named Dan (Josh Helman) was filmed by hidden cameras. What starts as a creepy invasion of privacy quickly spirals into a deadly game of cat and mouse. The six-part series builds to a finale where Lina turns the tables on her tormentor and exposes the truth about another death. Here is a breakdown of how the series ends for Dan and Axel.

The Truth About Axel’s Death Comes to Light

For most of the series, the death of Axel (Luke Cook) was treated as a tragic accident. Axel was Clare’s husband and a close friend to Lina’s brother, Cain (Chai Hansen). It was believed he slipped and fell from the rocks during a morning run. However, Lina always had her doubts.

After retrieving damaged hard drives from Dan’s hidden camera setup, Lina works with a technician named Glenn to recover the deleted files. What they find changes everything. A recovered video shows the real events of that morning. The footage reveals that Axel did not slip. Instead, he had confronted Dan about the hidden cameras after discovering Dan was filming Lina. During the confrontation, Dan attacked Axel from behind and killed him, making it look like an accident .

Armed with this video evidence, Lina goes to Detective Brennan (Sara Wiseman). This clears Cain’s name, as he was previously a suspect due to his volatile behavior and a head injury he sustained that night. Cain is released from prison, proving he had nothing to do with his best friend’s murder .

Lina Sets a Trap for Dan

With the evidence in the police’s hands, it seems like only a matter of time before Dan is caught. However, Dan, whose real name is revealed to be Andrew Wilson , is always one step ahead. He evades capture, steals a car, and continues to watch Lina from the shadows. He cannot let go of his obsession.

Lina realizes she cannot live her life looking over her shoulder forever. She decides to take matters into her own hands. Knowing Dan is watching her through the cameras he left behind at the Nest Share property, she speaks directly to him, calling him by his real name, Andrew. She provokes him, knowing he will not be able to resist coming for her .

Dan takes the bait. He returns to the property with a gun, ready to confront Lina. But Lina is prepared. She had previously pocketed fentanyl during the series, and she uses it as her weapon.

Dan’s Final Moments: How He Dies

When Dan breaks into the house, Lina ambushes him. A violent struggle ensues where Dan grabs her by the throat. During the fight, Lina stabs a needle into his side and injects him with the powerful drug. As the fentanyl takes effect, a shocked Dan asks her about the baby she claimed to be carryingโ€”the lie she used to keep him close. Lina coldly tells him the truth: there was never a baby .

“There was never a baby.” – Lina to Dan before delivering the final blow.

With that, she injects the final dose of fentanyl directly into his chest, near his heart. Lina watches as Dan slumps over and dies right in front of her . She has successfully killed the man who terrorized her and murdered her friend Axel.

What Happened to Dan’s Body?

The series does not explicitly show Lina disposing of Dan’s body, but the final scene gives viewers a strong hint. Months later, Detective Brennan visits Lina to check on her. The police have not found Dan, only his stolen car. Brennan asks Lina if she still has nightmares about the basement where Dan once locked her up.

Lina explains that she is renovating her grandfather’s old house. She tells the detective that the only way to get rid of the nightmare was to get rid of the basement entirely. She says she can now “sleep like a baby” because she has buried the nightmare where it cannot hurt her anymore .

The final shot shows Lina at the property, standing on a fresh concrete floor where the basement used to be. She is drinking a martini with extra olivesโ€”the same drink she asked Dan to make the first time they met. As she lowers her glass, the camera lingers on the solid concrete beneath her feet. The strong implication is that Dan’s body is buried underneath, forever entombed in the foundation of the house .
