9-1-1: Nashville Season 2 premiered on Thursday, October 15, 2026, on ABC, and the season is set for 18 episodes with a weekly Thursday airing pattern. Ryan Phillippe joined the cast as a new series regular, Detective Rogue Kelly, bringing a fast-talking East Coast energy to the Nashville police side of the show. The season opened with a biblical plague mystery, a murder hornet attack, and a river of blood, and the first three episode titles and dates are now confirmed.

Confirmed Episode Dates and Titles for Season 2

The season follows the same 9 p.m. ET/PT Thursday slot as Season 1, airing right after the flagship 9-1-1 series. Three episodes have confirmed titles and air dates. The rest of the 18-episode order will follow the same weekly pattern, with ABC announcing exact titles and synopses closer to each airdate.

  • Episode 1 — “Going Rogue”: Thursday, October 15, 2026. The 113 responds to a museum gala overrun by murder hornets and a laundry room filling with a river of blood. Detective Rogue Kelly arrives from New York and links the incidents to a suspect recreating the ten biblical plagues of Egypt.
  • Episode 2 — “Boys and Boils”: Thursday, October 22, 2026. The 113 investigates cries inside an apartment wall and deadly beauty products. The plague suspect calls Cammie directly, and Don clashes with Ryan while Blythe keeps the bed divorce in place.
  • Episode 3 — “Let There Be Darkness”: Thursday, October 29, 2026. The title is confirmed, and the plague mystery continues into its third week.

Season 1 ran 18 episodes from October 2025 to May 2026, and Season 2 carries the same episode count. Each episode runs about 43 minutes.

What the Premiere Set Up for the Season

The Season 2 premiere picked up three weeks after the Season 1 finale fight between Dixie and Blythe, which the creative team nicknamed the “Battle of the Blondes”. Showrunner Rashad Raisani shut down speculation about a major death right away.

“The spoiler alert is nobody died. People were arrested, but nobody died.” — Rashad Raisani, showrunner, to Entertainment Weekly

Blythe now controls her own record label and Dixie’s contract, creating a “frenemy” dynamic between the two women. Don faces health issues after being stung by a murder hornet, and his marriage to Blythe stays tense. Sam, played by MacKenzie Porter, fights ovarian cancer during a high-risk pregnancy, and Tennessee law complicates her treatment options. Cammie becomes the plague suspect’s psychological target, fielding threatening calls while helping authorities hunt him down.

Ryan Phillippe as Detective Rogue Kelly

Ryan Phillippe is the only new series regular for Season 2. His character, Rogue Kelly, is a former NYPD homicide detective who solved a Zodiac-style killer case that became a popular podcast. Raisani described the character’s energy as very different from the show’s Southern setting.

“He’s a real driver of a lot of our action, and also our police side of the show. What Angela Bassett’s Athena does for 9-1-1 is what we really are looking for Ryan to bring to our show, though with a much different energy and a much different vibe.” — Rashad Raisani to Entertainment Weekly

Chris O’Donnell, who plays Don Hart and serves as an executive producer, said the new detective changes the show’s structure by giving Season 2 an ongoing mystery instead of standalone emergencies.

“The big news was the introduction of Rogue Kelly, played by Ryan Phillippe and him coming into the city, which is different from what we did last year, having an ongoing storyline as far as a series of events that are connected to something bigger.” — Chris O’Donnell to TheWrap

Guest Stars and Franchise Crossovers

Oliver Stark’s Buck from the original 9-1-1 appears via FaceTime in Episode 2, linking the Nashville spinoff back to the main series without moving the character to Tennessee. LeAnn Rimes books a tour date at the Ryman Auditorium as Dixie, and a major guest appearance lands in Episode 4. Raisani has also discussed ways to connect Nashville characters to 9-1-1: Lone Star favorites later in the season, though nothing is confirmed.

Behind-the-Scenes Details About Season 2

The murder hornets in the premiere were not real. Production used life-size stuffed replicas for the actors to handle during the museum scene. Chris O’Donnell called the blood-red water in the laundry room scene “nasty” and noted that his TV sons, Ryan and Blue, had the hardest physical work in that sequence.

The Season 2 premiere ended with a title card honoring Fiona Lowe, the late daughter of executive producer Chad Lowe, who died on September 29, 2026, at age 13. Chad Lowe also directed the premiere episode.

The plague storyline pulls from the ten biblical plagues of Egypt. The premiere covered the first two, leaving eight more to unfold across the season. O’Donnell said the scripts kept surprising him.

“When I read it the first time, I’m just thinking, ‘Where the hell did they think of this stuff?’ But that is the show, and the crazier, the better.” — Chris O’Donnell to PEOPLE
