Elvish Yadav is making his Bollywood debut with the comedy sequel Malamaal Weekly 2. The popular YouTuber and Bigg Boss OTT 2 winner will share the screen with Riteish Deshmukh, Paresh Rawal and Rajpal Yadav in the upcoming film. The announcement arrived on August 13, 2026, just days after news broke about his first Bollywood project with Tiger Shroff.

The casting marks a major moment for the digital creator, who started his career making videos on YouTube. He now has over 25 million subscribers across his three YouTube channels. His fame grew massively after he became the first wildcard contestant to win Bigg Boss OTT 2 in 2023. Elvish Yadav Shares Emotional Message for Fans

Elvish Yadav took to X (formerly Twitter) to confirm his casting in Malamaal Weekly 2. He wrote a note in Hindi that translated to:

“New film. New journey. I came from outside, I had no one in Bollywood. I rose from among you people, and your love has now brought me to the big screen. Whatever I am today, it’s because of your love. And because of this very love, I am ‘MALAMAAL’. Just keep the love going.”

The 28-year-old also spoke about working with the film’s cast. He wrote that he would learn a lot from actors like Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Riteish Deshmukh, Raveena Tandon and Shilpa Shirodkar. He said he was truly grateful for the opportunity and hoped to make his fans proud.

Elvish also addressed the common belief that digital creators only get small roles in movies. He said:

“There’s always been a stereotype that YouTubers only get tiny roles in movies, and I’m genuinely happy to be a part of a film that’s breaking that stereotype. I truly believe you’re going to love my character.”

He added that his role in the film is not just a cameo but a “really strong role”.

What We Know About Malamaal Weekly 2

Malamaal Weekly 2 is the sequel to the 2006 comedy film Malamaal Weekly, which was directed by Priyadarshan. The original movie starred Paresh Rawal, Om Puri, Riteish Deshmukh and Arbaaz Khan. It performed well at the box office and became a favourite among audiences.

The sequel will bring back the original trio of Riteish Deshmukh, Paresh Rawal and Rajpal Yadav in lead roles. Elvish Yadav joins them as a new addition to the main cast. The female cast reportedly includes Parineeti Chopra, Raveena Tandon and Shilpa Shirodkar.

The film will feature a completely new storyline. However, it will keep the core theme of the original — ordinary people in a small town, driven by poverty and greed, finding themselves in increasingly chaotic situations.

Amit Joshi, who co-directed Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon’s film Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, will direct the sequel. He is currently working on the script, with production set to begin in November 2026.

The first Malamaal Weekly was released in 2006 and became a surprise box-office success. The film was made on a budget of about Rs 7 crore and earned around Rs 42.7 crore worldwide. It collected a net total of approximately Rs 26.70 crore in India. The film’s simple premise of villagers fighting over a lottery ticket struck a chord with audiences.

The movie achieved a legendary status on television. Channels like Set Max and Goldmines broadcasted the film almost every week for over a decade. It became one of the most-watched Hindi comedies on television.

Elvish Yadav’s casting in Malamaal Weekly 2 comes shortly after news of his first Bollywood project. He was signed for an action film directed by Remo D’Souza, which also stars Tiger Shroff and Abhishek Banerjee. The film is being produced by Vicky Jain under his new production banner, VJ Frames.
