Hayden Christensen just gave Star Wars fans a reason to get excited. The actor, who plays Anakin Skywalker, recently shared his vision for bringing back the main cast from the prequel trilogy. During an appearance at D23 and on the Hey Jonas! podcast, Christensen talked about a possible project that would reunite him with Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman, and Samuel L. Jackson.
Christensen has already made his return to the Star Wars universe in recent years. He appeared in Obi-Wan Kenobi and is set to return again in Ahsoka Season 2. But this time, he is thinking bigger. He wants to bring the entire prequel team back together for a live-action project set during the Clone Wars era.
Hayden Christensen Shares His Reunion Idea at D23
At the D23 event, Christensen spoke with USA Today about his time back in the Star Wars franchise. He made it clear that he would love to work with Natalie Portman again. Portman played Padmé Amidala, Anakin’s wife and the mother of Luke and Leia. Her character died in Revenge of the Sith, but Christensen believes there is still room to tell more stories with her.
“I’d love to get to work with her again and play these characters together. I think there’s still an opportunity to do that.”
Christensen pointed to the Clone Wars timeline as the perfect setting. The animated series covered many adventures during that period, but live-action projects have barely touched it.
“I love the whole Clone Wars timeline in Star Wars, and it’s been a lot of fun to get to explore that a little bit in this series. So, I would love to get to do that with her at some point.”
The Podcast That Started It All
On the Hey Jonas! podcast, Christensen went even further. He pitched the idea of a project that would bring back many of the stars from the prequel trilogy. He mentioned that Ewan McGregor (Obi-Wan Kenobi) is ready to return. He also said he has heard that Natalie Portman would love to come back. And he added Samuel L. Jackson (Mace Windu) to the list.
“I know that Ewan McGregor would love to do more with it. I’ve heard Natalie [Portman] would love to come back. Sam Jackson. So you could get the band back together.”
This is a big deal for fans. Ewan McGregor has already returned for his own Obi-Wan Kenobi series and has been pushing for a second season. Samuel L. Jackson has said for years that Mace Windu could have survived his fall in Revenge of the Sith. Natalie Portman has been more cautious about returning, but her co-stars are clearly eager to have her back.
What a Live-Action Clone Wars Project Could Look Like
Christensen is not just talking about a quick cameo. He is suggesting a full live-action project set during the Clone Wars. This era is rich with stories. The animated Clone Wars series ran for seven seasons and covered many battles and character moments. But live-action has only shown small pieces of it.
A live-action project could explore Anakin and Padmé’s relationship in more depth. It could also show Obi-Wan and Anakin fighting together as friends. And it could finally answer the question of whether Mace Windu survived.
There have been rumors that Natalie Portman might appear in Ahsoka Season 2. Some believe she could show up in the World Between Worlds, a mystical place that allows Force users to move through time and space. But Christensen is talking about something bigger. He wants a project that is set during the Clone Wars, when all these characters were alive and active.
Ahsoka Season 2 Brings Anakin Back Again
Fans will not have to wait long to see Hayden Christensen back on screen. He is returning as Anakin Skywalker in Ahsoka Season 2. The first trailer for the season dropped at D23. It shows Anakin appearing as a Force spirit, guiding Ahsoka in the present day. The season will also include flashbacks to the Clone Wars era.
Ahsoka Season 2 is set to release on January 20, 2027, exclusively on Disney+. The show stars Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano, Anakin’s former Padawan. The cast also includes Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Lars Mikkelsen, Eman Esfandi, Ivanna Sakhno, and Rory McCann. The new season will see Grand Admiral Thrawn preparing for war, with the battle expanding across two galaxies.

What This Means for Star Wars Fans
The prequel trilogy was not always loved by fans. But over time, many have come to appreciate it. A whole generation grew up with Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Padmé. Now, those fans are seeing their favorite characters return.
Hayden Christensen has been one of the biggest comeback stories in Star Wars. After years away from the franchise, he returned in Obi-Wan Kenobi and then in Ahsoka. Now he is talking about bringing even more actors back.
If Lucasfilm decides to move forward with Christensen’s idea, it could be one of the biggest Star Wars projects in years. A live-action Clone Wars series or film would give fans the chance to see these characters in a new light. It would also allow the actors to explore parts of their characters that the movies did not have time to show.
For now, fans can look forward to Ahsoka Season 2. And they can keep hoping that Hayden Christensen’s dream of a prequel reunion becomes a reality.
