The wait for the next chapter of Darth Maul’s animated story now has a clear timeline. Matt Michnovetz, the head writer and executive producer of Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord, confirmed at the D23 Expo that Season 2 will arrive in 2027. The announcement came during a panel for the series, where Michnovetz told the audience to “Get ready for it.”
The show, which comes from Lucasfilm Animation, already received a Season 2 renewal before its first season even started. Dave Filoni, the creator and executive producer, announced the renewal on April 2, 2026, just four days before the series premiere on Disney+. This early green light allowed the creative team to begin work on the next batch of episodes well in advance.
