Netflix is preparing to release a new crime thriller that brings together talent from Korea and Japan. Son Suk-ku and Nagayama Eita lead the cast of ‘Blue Road’ (working title ‘Road’), a cross-border murder mystery that will arrive on the streaming platform in late 2026.
The series marks a major collaboration between Korean and Japanese entertainment industries. It is based on the popular manhwa “Blue Road” by Keisi Edogawa and Kwon Ga Ya. Director Han Jun-hee, known for his work on ‘D.P.’ and ‘Weak Hero Class’, is at the helm.

‘Blue Road’ follows two detectives who must work together to catch a serial killer. The story begins in Tokyo, where a mutilated body is discovered with a message written in Korean in blood. Soon after, a similar case emerges in Korea. This time, the victim carries a dying message written in Japanese.
The pattern makes it clear that a single killer is operating across both countries. The authorities launch a joint investigation. The two detectives must track the killer from Seoul to Tokyo, following a trail of twisted bodies and cryptic messages.

Star-Studded Cast Led by Son Suk-ku and Nagayama Eita
Son Suk-ku plays Kang Cheong Do, a determined Korean detective leading the investigation from Seoul. Son is well-known for his roles in ‘D.P.’, ‘The Roundup’, ‘A Killer Paradox’, and ‘My Liberation Notes’.
Nagayama Eita plays Inose, his Japanese counterpart from Tokyo. Nagayama is a popular Japanese actor known for ‘Nodame Cantabile’, ‘Unnatural’, and ‘Orange Days’.
The supporting cast includes several notable actors:
Kim Shin-rok appears as a Korean-Japanese businesswoman who aids in solving the case. She has starred in Netflix dramas such as ‘Hellbound’, ‘Sweet Home’, and ‘Queen of Tears’.
Choi Sung-eun plays a government agent assigned to the case. She previously appeared in Netflix’s ‘The Sound of Magic’.

‘Blue Road’ consists of eight episodes. The series is produced by the South Korean studio Shortcake. Filming began in September 2025 and concluded in January 2026.
The series is written by Han Jun-hee and Jo Yu-jin. Jo Yu-jin’s credits include the hit comedy ‘Pilot’.
Netflix confirmed the production on September 12, 2025, unveiling the main cast at that time.

‘Blue Road’ is scheduled to premiere in the fourth quarter of 2026.
