Shah Rukh Khan has addressed the box office clash of his upcoming film King with two major Hollywood releases, Avengers: Doomsday and Dune: Part Three, during his latest #AskSRK session on X. The actor confirmed that King will stick to its December 24, 2026 release date, calling his film the “tasty tikki” in the middle of a sandwich. The session, held on September 15, 2026, marked 100 days until the film’s theatrical arrival and gave fans several key updates about the Siddharth Anand directorial.
SRK’s Cheeky Response to the Sandwich Question
A fan asked whether King was stuck between the two Hollywood giants like a filling in a sandwich, and if the release date might change. Shah Rukh Khan replied with his signature humor.
“Not at all….Baaki bread pieces ka bhi toh socho….hum toh center ki tasty Tikki hain.”
The Hindi phrase translates to, “Not at all. Think about the other bread pieces too. We are the tasty tikki in the center.” The response quickly went viral among fans, who praised the actor’s confidence ahead of the crowded December window.
When another fan asked whether his younger son AbRam Khan would watch Avengers: Doomsday or King first, the actor responded, “Pehle to Baap hi ayega beta!!!” meaning, “The father will come first, son.”
Release Date and Box Office Competition
King is scheduled to arrive in theaters worldwide on December 24, 2026. Both Avengers: Doomsday and Dune: Part Three are set for a global theatrical release on December 18, 2026, just six days before Shah Rukh Khan’s film. The Christmas weekend also sees competition from Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Telugu action drama Dada and Maddock Films’ horror-comedy Shakti Shalini, both slated for December 24.
Avengers: Doomsday, directed by Joe Russo and Anthony Russo, features Robert Downey Jr. returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Dune: Part Three, directed by Denis Villeneuve, concludes his adaptation of Frank Herbert’s saga with Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya reprising their roles.
Update on Injuries and Film Completion
Shah Rukh Khan shared that the production of King faced physical challenges. When asked about the most difficult part of making the film, he revealed that injuries forced repeated pauses in the shooting schedule.
“Had a few injuries while shooting so had to start stop many times but now all broken is fixed…and nearly all done…so all good.”
The actor confirmed that he has recovered and the film is close to completion.
What Fans Will See in King
With 100 days left until release, a fan asked what Shah Rukh Khan was most excited to show audiences. The actor said he wanted viewers to experience the complete film rather than any single element.
“Everything in King …worked very hard to entertain as many as possible. The action the songs the actors and of course my hair!!!”
He also teased that the action sequences in the film are on a large scale, adding that director Siddharth Anand has worked hard on them.
Trailer, Music, and Arijit Singh’s Song
The trailer for King remains one of the biggest questions among fans. When asked why the wait was taking so long, Shah Rukh Khan explained that the team is taking its time to prepare material that does justice to the film.
“Ab picture hi dekho na! Tarsa nahi raha join acchhi wali bana raha hoon….ke Dil ko tasalli mile….Sab ayega…24th Dec se pehle.”
This translates to, “Just look at the picture. I’m not keeping you waiting; I’m crafting a really good one—something to truly satisfy the heart. It’s all coming before the 24th.” Fans can expect the trailer and other promotional material to arrive before the film reaches theaters.
On the music front, Shah Rukh Khan confirmed that Arijit Singh has recorded a song for King. The singer, who had announced his retirement from playback singing earlier in 2026, is still adding final touches to the track.
“Arijit is yet to add the finishing touches. He is a perfectionist. Takes some time, rightfully.”
A Dialogue from the Film
At the end of the #AskSRK session, a fan requested a dialogue from King. Shah Rukh Khan shared a video of the script and was heard saying, “Chaubis December, King. Picture abhi baaki hai, King akela kaafi hai.” This translates to, “24 December, King. The film is still pending, King is enough all alone”.
