Mohra is heading back to Indian cinemas 32 years after it first opened. Trimurti Films Pvt. Ltd. has confirmed that the 1994 action thriller will return in a 4K remastered version on November 6, 2026, during the Diwali week. The film stars Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Raveena Tandon, with Naseeruddin Shah in a key role.

A teaser for the re-release was shared on the official Trimurti Films YouTube channel. Its description reads: “Celebrate 32 years of MOHRA—in cinemas near you from 6th November 2026”.

The announcement put Mohra in the same release window as Ramayana: Part 1, the big-budget epic starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash, which is scheduled for November 5, 2026. Trade reports framed the two films as a box office clash. Director Rajiv Rai has since clarified that the comparison does not match the actual release plan.

Rajiv Rai Says Mohra Is Not Competing With Ramayana

Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, Rajiv Rai explained that Mohra is returning in a “very, very limited and small way on single screens around the country”. The rollout will move across different centres over a period of about six months, rather than arriving everywhere on one day.

The director also ruled out multiplex chains such as PVR. He cited high ticket prices and the Virtual Print Fee (VPF) charged by cinemas as reasons. In his words: “Old films have been watched a million times and, in reality, the business is negligible. I am just doing this as an exercise”.

On the reported clash with Ramayana, Rai said: “I’m not coming against Ramayana. Because everyone has moved away from Diwali, there’s an opening in small centres and I’m trying to take advantage of that. Also, it’s an auspicious date to start something. Anyway, Ramayana cannot book all the cinemas in the country”.

He further noted that there may not even be a cinema showing Mohra in Mumbai, which would rule out any direct competition in the city.

Where Mohra Will Screen

The re-release is being handled by Deepinder Singh’s Rimpy Films International. One confirmed venue is Heera Talkies in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. The single-screen theatre will play Mohra in all four daily shows, which means it will not screen Ramayana at that location.

A full city-wise list of participating cinemas has not been shared publicly. The makers have described the plan as a phased run across single screens, so showtimes and availability will differ by location. For now, audiences outside the confirmed single-screen circuit may not find the film in their local multiplex.

International screening details have also not been announced. The current plan is focused on Indian single-screen cinemas.

What the 1994 Film Was About

Mohra originally released on July 1, 1994. Rajiv Rai directed the film, and Gulshan Rai produced it under the Trimurti Films banner.

The story follows Vishal Agnihotri, played by Suniel Shetty, a prisoner seeking justice for his wife’s murder. Journalist Roma Singh, played by Raveena Tandon, helps secure his release. Vishal then becomes involved with the powerful Jindal, played by Naseeruddin Shah, who uses him to target criminals. Akshay Kumar plays Inspector Amar Saxena, the officer investigating a series of killings that slowly reveal a larger conspiracy.

The supporting cast includes Paresh Rawal, Gulshan Grover, Raza Murad, Sadashiv Amrapurkar, Poonam Jhawer and Kulbhushan Kharbanda. Priya Tendulkar, Avtar Gill, Kunika Sadanand, Tej Sapru and Vishwajeet Pradhan also appear in supporting roles.

Music That Kept Mohra Alive

Viju Shah composed the soundtrack, and the songs became a major reason for the film’s long shelf life. Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast, sung by Udit Narayan and Kavita Krishnamurthy, and Tip Tip Barsa Paani, sung by Alka Yagnik and Udit Narayan, remain widely recognised Bollywood tracks.

Other popular songs include Na Kajare Ki Dhar, Subah Se Lekar, Dil Har Koi and Kaash Kahin Aisa Hota. The lyrics were written by Anand Bakshi, Indeevar and Sameer.

The soundtrack reportedly sold more than eight million units. The film finished 1994 as the second-highest-grossing Indian film, behind Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!.

A Bigger Trimurti Catalogue Plan

Rimpy Films International has also shared plans to bring back other Trimurti titles, including Vidhaata (1982), Tridev (1989), Gupt (1994) and Yudh (1985). Release dates for those films have not been included in the current update.

The company has already re-released Zora (2025), Rajiv Rai’s latest directorial venture, in the same week. Zora is also playing at Heera Talkies in Agra.

Diwali 2026 Release Window

Ramayana: Part 1 is scheduled for November 5, 2026. The main Diwali day in 2026 falls on November 8, with the festival period running from November 6 to November 10. Mohra arrives on November 6, the day after Ramayana.

Advance booking for Ramayana has already opened in several markets. For Mohra, the release remains a single-screen rollout, so ticket availability depends on local cinema listings rather than a nationwide multiplex booking page.

For audiences who watched Mohra in 1994 and for newer viewers curious about the songs and the revenge drama, the 4K version offers a big-screen return. The confirmed date is November 6, 2026, and the confirmed format is a limited single-screen run.
