The secretive Monarch organization is returning to Apple TV with a confirmed new season that takes the action to one of the MonsterVerse’s most famous locations. The series, which connects the stories of the giant monster films, will be back for a second season of global adventures in early 2026.
Apple TV has officially announced that Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2 will premiere worldwide on Friday, February 27, 2026. The new season will consist of ten episodes, with the first one arriving on the premiere date. After that, a new episode will be released every Friday, leading to the season’s end on May 1, 2026.
The upcoming season picks up the story from the dramatic end of the first season, where the fate of both Monarch and the world is uncertain. The search for answers will lead the main characters directly into the path of iconic monsters. The official description from Apple states that the story “reunites our heroes (and villains) on Kong’s Skull Island, and a new, mysterious village where a mythical Titan rises from the sea”.
Release Schedule and How to Watch Worldwide
For viewers around the world, the release will be simultaneous on Apple TV. The streaming service is available in over 100 countries and regions. New episodes will go live at the same time globally every Friday, based on the Eastern Time zone.
To watch, you need an Apple TV subscription. The service costs $12.99 per month, but new subscribers can start with a seven-day free trial. Apple TV can be watched on many devices, including iPhones, iPads, Apple TV 4K, Mac computers, and popular smart TVs from brands like Samsung, LG, and Sony. You can also watch on gaming consoles like PlayStation and Xbox, or through the Apple TV website.
The first season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is currently available to stream in full on Apple TV, allowing new viewers to catch up before the second season begins.
What to Expect in Season 2: New Titans and Family Secrets
The plot for the new season will continue exploring the complex legacy of the Randa family and the shadowy operations of the Monarch organization. The official description mentions that “the ripple effects of the past make waves in the present day,” suggesting that historical secrets will have major consequences for the characters we follow today.
A significant shift in location is confirmed: a large part of the season’s action will take place on Kong’s Skull Island. This sets the stage for more screen time for the iconic giant ape, King Kong. The first teaser for the season also confirms the return of Godzilla and hints at new Titans, including one described as “a mythical Titan” that emerges from the sea.
The end of Season 1 left the characters in a difficult position. Cate Randa (Anna Sawai), May (Kiersey Clemons), and Keiko (Mari Yamamoto) returned to Earth from the Hollow Earth dimension, only to find that years had passed and their allies were now working for the questionable tech company Apex Cybernetics. Furthermore, they arrived back specifically on Skull Island. Season 2 will deal with the fallout of these events and the characters’ new reality.
Confirmed Cast and New Faces
The main cast from the first season is set to return for the new episodes. This includes Anna Sawai as Cate Randa, Kiersey Clemons as May, Ren Watabe as Kentaro, and Mari Yamamoto as Keiko. Joe Tippett is also returning as the Monarch office worker Tim.
A major question from the Season 1 finale was the fate of Lee Shaw, played by Kurt Russell in the present day and Wyatt Russell in the 1950s timeline. Shaw appeared to sacrifice himself. However, both Kurt and Wyatt Russell are officially listed in the cast for Season 2, indicating that flashbacks or other narrative devices will keep the character, central to Monarch’s founding, part of the story.
Also returning are Anders Holm as the younger Bill Randa and Takehiro Hira as Hiroshi Randa. A new addition to the cast has been reported: Amber Midthunder (Prey) will play a character named Isabel, who is expected to have a significant recurring role in the new season.

The MonsterVerse Expands on Television
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is a key part of Legendary Entertainment’s MonsterVerse, the interconnected world that includes films like Godzilla (2014), Kong: Skull Island, and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. The series is unique because it focuses on the human characters within the secret organization that studies these Titans, providing story depth between the major monster battles seen in the films.
The show’s renewal for a second season is part of a larger multi-series deal between Apple and Legendary. This agreement means that not only is Monarch continuing, but the MonsterVerse will expand on Apple TV with additional spinoff series set in the same universe.
Season 2 will pick up with the fate of Monarch — and the world — hanging in the balance.
Filming for the ten-episode second season concluded in March 2025, and the series is now in post-production ahead of its early 2026 debut. Chris Black continues as the showrunner for Season 2.
