The Straw Hat Pirates face their most calculated threat yet in the fourth episode of Netflix’s One Piece season 2. Titled “Big Trouble in Little Garden,” the 54-minute installment drops the crew onto a prehistoric island where dinosaurs roam and giants have been locked in battle for a century. But the real danger comes from Baroque Works, as Mr. 3 springs an elaborate trap that leaves Luffy, Zoro, and the others fighting for survival.

Miss All-Sunday’s Final Warning

The episode opens on the Going Merry, where Miss All-Sunday makes her move. The Baroque Works officer confronts the crew directly, armed with an Eternal Pose that would allow them to skip dangerous islands and sail to a remote location where she offers to “protect” them. It is a tempting escape from the syndicate hunting them .

Luffy refuses without hesitation. The captain’s commitment to the journey and his dream of finding the One Piece means taking shortcuts is not an option. Miss All-Sunday smirks at his response, wishes them luck, and vanishes, leaving the crew to face whatever awaits on the island ahead.

Landing on the Island of Giants

Little Garden lives up to its name in the most deceptive way. The island is packed with massive Venus flytraps, actual dinosaurs, and evidence that giants call this place home. The crew splits up to explore, unaware that Baroque Works has already arrived and set their plan in motion .

Zoro and Sanji immediately run into trouble when a Tyrannosaurus rex charges at them. The swordsman takes down the prehistoric predator with relative ease, though Sanji insists his kicks helped finish the job. Their bickering continues even as they press deeper into the island, but they are not alone. Miss Goldenweek, partner to Mr. 3, watches from the shadows and prepares to make her move .

The Giants’ Century-Long Duel

While the crew explores, Vivi and Luffy meet Dorry, one of the two giants ruling Little Garden. Dorry explains that he and his former captain Brogy have been fighting each other for 100 years. Their duels always end in a draw, triggered by the island’s volcano erupting each day. Neither remembers the original reason for their conflict, but honor binds them to continue .

For Usopp, meeting Brogy is a transformative moment. The giant captures Usopp and Nami but quickly clarifies he only wants company, not to eat them. Usopp, terrified but inspired, tells tall tales about being a “Lord of Destruction.” Brogy shares his story, and Usopp finds himself admiring the giant’s unwavering commitment to honor. He vows to one day visit Elbaf, the homeland of the giants .

Mr. 3’s Wax Plan

The true threat reveals itself when Miss Valentine and Mr. 5 rendezvous with Mr. 3. Played by David Dastmalchian, Mr. 3 possesses the power of the Wax-Wax Fruit, allowing him to create and control wax as hard as steel. He has no interest in a fair fight. Instead, he exploits the giants’ honor .

Mr. 5 and Miss Valentine sabotage Brogy’s drinking horn, spiking his beer with explosive earwax. When Brogy and Dorry begin their daily duel, Brogy belches smoke and falters. Dorry lands a blow that defeats his rival, but the victory is hollow. The century of honorable combat shatters because of outside interference .

The Crew Falls One by One

With the giants neutralized, Mr. 3 moves against the Straw Hats. Miss Goldenweek uses her unique ability, a form of hypnotic art she calls “color trap.” She paints symbols on her targets, manipulating their emotions. Zoro, Nami, and later Luffy fall under her spell, becoming lost in despair or confusion .

Mr. 5 catches up to Vivi and knocks her out. Mr. 3 uses his wax to trap Dorry, turning the mighty giant into an immobilized statue. The Baroque Works agents systematically capture the crew’s strongest members. Zoro, already under Miss Goldenweek’s influence, cannot fight back effectively. The episode ends with the Straw Hats and Vivi completely at Mr. 3’s mercy, trapped in wax and awaiting their fate .

New Cast and Production Details

Episode 4 introduces several key cast members for the season. David Dastmalchian debuts as Mr. 3, bringing a sinister energy to the wax-wielding villain. Sophia Anne Caruso appears as Miss Goldenweek, whose subtle powers prove just as dangerous as any Devil Fruit. Brendan Murray plays Brogy, with Werner Coester portraying his rival Dorry .

Christoph Schrewe directed the episode, with writing credits going to Lindsay Gelfand and Allison Weintraub. The episode runs 54 minutes and features extensive visual effects work to bring the dinosaurs and giants to life.

The Stakes Going Forward

“Big Trouble in Little Garden” sets up the next phase of the Arabasta Saga. Mr. 3 has the crew cornered, but the episode plants seeds for their escape. Usopp’s connection to Brogy and his growing courage will likely play a role. The giants may yet return the favor to the little pirate who treated them with respect .

The episode also reinforces Baroque Works as a serious threat. Unlike the straightforward villains of season 1, Mr. 3 wins through manipulation and strategy. He does not need to beat the Straw Hats in a fair fight. He simply needs to make them lose .

Season 2 of One Piece is streaming now on Netflix with all eight episodes available .
