The latest episode of the hit Korean drama Phantom Lawyer brought a major turning point for Han Na-hyeon. She finally learned the truth about Shin Yi-rang’s secret. The shocking reveal happened when Na-hyeon discovered that her own dead sister, So-hyun, has been the ghost possessing Yi-rang. Episode 8 aired on April 4, 2026, and fans are still talking about the emotional ending.

The SBS drama continues to pull in strong numbers. Episode 8 recorded 9.5 percent ratings nationwide and peaked at 11.1 percent. It ranked No. 1 in its time slot and topped all Friday and Saturday dramas. The show also reached the number one spot on Netflix in several regions.

A Ghost Client That Hit Close to Home

The episode started with So-hyun, Na-hyeon’s late sister, taking control of Yi-rang’s body. She saw a group of bullies beating up a young student named Jun-ho. Without thinking, So-hyun used Yi-rang’s body to fight the bullies. This led to Yi-rang getting arrested for assault.

Na-hyeon had no choice but to become Yi-rang’s lawyer. But she showed clear anger toward him. She did not trust him at all. The situation became very tense. So-hyun, watching from inside Yi-rang, felt heartbroken seeing how cold her sister had become.

Before So-hyun died, Na-hyeon was a bubbly person who loved music. But after losing her sister, she changed completely. She pulled away from her family and became cold-hearted. So-hyun visited her old home and saw how broken her family was after her death.

The Bullying Case Gets Worse

The bullies hired a lawyer named Do-kyung to fight against Yi-rang. Do-kyung wanted to destroy Yi-rang’s career. If Yi-rang lost this case, he would have to pay large settlement money. His lawyer license could also get revoked.

Yi-rang, with So-hyun’s help, started digging into the case. So-hyun followed the bullied student and gathered information. Yi-rang then spoke to Jun-ho while possessed by So-hyun. That is when he learned the real horror of the situation. The bullies had filmed Jun-ho without clothes. They used that video to terrorize him.

Yi-rang and Na-hyeon decided to work together. They planned to get the video from the bullies’ phones and delete it. But Do-kyung kept interfering at every step.

The situation got worse when Jun-ho tried to kill his bully. He wanted revenge for all the suffering. He beat the bully badly but did not kill him. Right at that moment, Na-hyeon arrived and exposed the truth in front of Do-kyung. Do-kyung looked completely shocked by his loss.

Do-kyung tried to warn Na-hyeon. He told her that Yi-rang could actually see ghosts. He wanted her to leave Yi-rang’s side. Na-hyeon rejected the idea at first. But she started feeling suspicious.

The Emotional Sister Reunion

The episode ended with a scene that made many viewers cry. Na-hyeon finally realized Yi-rang was telling the truth. He really could see ghosts. And more importantly, she understood that her sister So-hyun was the spirit possessing Yi-rang.

The moment of recognition came through a shared phrase. So-hyun said, “Let’s ride the last seat today.” This was something only the two sisters knew. Na-hyeon broke down. Through Yi-rang’s body, she held her sister again.

So-hyun had died saving her younger sister. She tearfully shared, “I saved my Na-hyeon. I died, but I’m happy.” The reunion left a lasting impression on viewers. Many took to social media to share their emotional reactions.

What Made Episode 8 Stand Out

Unlike previous episodes that focused more on legal battles, episode 8 put family emotions at the center. The show balanced the bullying case with the personal story of the two sisters. So-hyun did not appear directly in many scenes. But her presence mattered in every part of the case.

The episode also showed how Yi-rang continues to grow as a character. He helped So-hyun express her feelings. He comforted her about her pain. He also risked everything to help a bullied student he did not even know.

Yoo Yeon-seok delivered a strong performance as Shin Yi-rang. Esom also showed great range as Na-hyeon, moving from cold lawyer to grieving sister. Kim Kyung-nam and Yeon Ji-hyung rounded out the main cast.
