The second episode of the new K-drama “Spring Fever” shows leads Ahn Bo Hyun and Lee Joo Bin in a tense chase through a Seoul subway station, searching for a missing student and raising the stakes for their budding relationship.

Fresh from their awkward first meeting, the characters are thrust into a joint mission, leaving their small town for the big city. This sudden trip to Seoul marks a significant shift from the show’s established setting and promises to accelerate the connection between the two very different personalities.

New Episode Brings A Chase To The City

The tvN romantic comedy “Spring Fever” aired its second episode on Monday, January 6, 2026. Following the premiere, new promotional images revealed a surprising plot development. The story moves from the quiet, seaside village of Shinsu to the bustling heart of Seoul.

In the released stills, Seon Jae Gyu (Ahn Bo Hyun) is seen urgently leaping over subway turnstiles. His expression is one of haste and concern. Meanwhile, Yoon Bom (Lee Joo Bin) appears tense as she scans the subway platform, clearly searching for someone. The reason for their urgent trip and who they are looking for was a key mystery heading into the episode.

Adding to the drama, their student Choi Se Jin (Lee Jae In) is also present at the subway station, seen with a backpack. Her involvement suggests the high schoolers are connected to the crisis that forces their teacher and Jae Gyu to team up.

From Small Town Tension To Big City Action

This subway adventure is a dramatic departure from how the series began. The premiere episode on January 5 introduced Yoon Bom as a cold, detached teacher who has purposefully moved to the rural town to live as an outsider. She is a figure of mystery to the local villagers.

Her orderly, emotionless life is disrupted by Seon Jae Gyu, a passionate and straightforward man known for causing a stir in the town. Their first meeting was tense and awkward, occurring in a school office where Jae Gyu burst in to see his nephew.

“She fluctuates between dark and moody to bubbly and full of energy,” Lee Joo Bin said about her character, Yoon Bom. “Balancing that contrast was something I worked hard on”.

The contrast between the leads is central to the show’s theme. Ahn Bo Hyun described his character as someone who “always finds himself at the center of bizarre events”. Throwing this chaotic energy into Yoon Bom’s carefully controlled life is the engine of the series’ romantic comedy.

Behind The Scenes Of The Subway Scene

Filming the subway chase was a memorable experience for the actors. Lee Joo Bin shared a funny story about shooting the sequence, noting it was filmed in a real, operational subway car.

“I ran into a real subway car screaming lines, and everyone stared at me like Iโ€™d lost my mind,” she laughed. “It was embarrassing but unforgettable”.

Ahn Bo Hyun’s physicality, often highlighted by his co-star, came into play during these action-oriented moments. Lee Joo Bin expressed amazement at his athletic skill during chase scenes, joking that he could have been a professional athlete. Ahn Bo Hyun himself noted the physical demands of the role, quipping that he sometimes felt like he was filming a sports drama.

A Story Of Healing And Warmth

While the subway scenes provide excitement, the core of “Spring Fever” is a healing romance. Based on a popular web novel by Baek Min-a, the drama tells the story of a woman who leaves Seoul after heartbreak and finds new beginnings in a small town.

Lee Joo Bin described the project as warm and easy to watch. “It’s lighthearted without heavy emotional baggage,” she said. “Viewers waiting for a warm spring breeze after winter will find comfort here”.

The actors have used simple, relatable words to describe the series’ feeling. In a joint interview, they chose “Healing, Macarons, and Passion” as their three keywords. Lee Joo Bin explained the macaron comparison, saying, “Macarons have a hard shell but are soft inside. That’s exactly like Bom and Jae-gyu”.
