Television actress Akanksha Chamola made a deeply personal confession on the reality show Lock Upp Season 2, revealing that she is bisexual and had relationships with women before marrying actor Gaurav Khanna. The emotional moment came just days after she announced on the show’s premiere that she and Gaurav are heading for a divorce after nearly a decade of marriage.
The revelation unfolded when fellow contestant Shreya Kalra exposed Akanksha’s secret during the game, using it as a lifeline for another contestant. Shreya had overheard Akanksha discussing her personal life backstage and later shared the information with Sufi Motiwala. When Akanksha learned that her secret was made public without her permission, she broke down in front of hosts Riteish Deshmukh and Farah Khan.

When Riteish Deshmukh asked Akanksha to speak about the matter herself, she did not hold back. She openly admitted that she was bisexual before marriage and had been in relationships with women.
“Main shaadi se pehle bisexual thi. Mere relations rahe hain kuch ladkiyon ke saath. Bohot zyada intimate relations nahi rahe hain but I have been in relations with a few females.”
She further explained her attraction to women, saying she finds comfort and safety in their company. She described women as her “safe space” and said she admires and feels drawn to them.
“Mujhe ladkiya pasand hain. Main admire karti hoon, main attract hoti hoon unke taraf. I think mera woh safe space hain.”
Akanksha shared that growing up in a male-dominated world, she always found comfort in the company of her mother and sisters. She said she loves feminine energy and thrives in that environment. Addressing societal labels, she added that while people may call her bisexual, for her, it is simply pure love.
“Mere liye all females are beautiful. Its a tag that society has given, for me its pure love.”
The actress became emotional during the confession, and Farah Khan comforted her with a hug. Akanksha also mentioned that she felt like coming on the show was a mistake because her personal secrets have been exposed since day one.

Before the bisexual revelation, Akanksha had already made headlines during the premiere episode of Lock Upp Season 2, which started streaming on Netflix on June 27, 2026. She shocked everyone by announcing that she and Gaurav Khanna are getting a divorce.
“Gaurav and I are getting a divorce. We have been living separately for the last one year, and it has not been public.”
The couple, who got married in November 2016 after meeting during an audition, had been living separately for over a year. Akanksha clarified that there is no bitterness between them and that they still talk to each other. However, they realised they are not compatible as life partners because they both want different things from life.
Why the Marriage Fell Apart
In later episodes, Akanksha opened up about the main reason behind the separation. She revealed that she never developed a maternal instinct and does not want to have children, while Gaurav’s desire to become a father grew stronger over time.
“When we got married, I never had a maternal instinct, but I was open to discovering it. It was never completely shut down, but gradually I realised I’m not meant for it. And he was okay with it, but I guess with time, that shifted. Now, he wants to have kids, and I can’t give him that.”
Akanksha said she had told Gaurav long ago that she is not meant for motherhood and even gave him the option to leave her if he wanted children. She acknowledged that most people marry with the expectation of building a family, and she did not want to hold him back from that.
“I told him then that I’m not going to do it. So we had a discussion where I said, ‘If you want to leave me, you can leave me. Fair enough on your part.’”
She also shared that she wants to remain child-free and enjoy her freedom.
Their Love Story and Marriage
Akanksha Chamola and Gaurav Khanna met during an audition in early 2016. Gaurav has previously shared that he fell for Akanksha the moment he saw her. Interestingly, Akanksha did not recognise him at first, and Gaurav pretended to be a newcomer while she helped him with audition ideas.
The couple got married on November 24, 2016, in a grand three-day wedding celebration in Gaurav’s hometown, Kanpur. Many television celebrities attended their wedding. Over the years, they were considered one of television’s most loved couples.
