AMC has dropped the first teaser for Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches Season 3, and it shows Alexandra Daddario‘s character Rowan Fielding doing something she has never done before. The 15-second clip premiered during the July 12 penultimate episode of The Vampire Lestat, giving viewers a quick but powerful look at what is coming next.

The teaser opens with the sound of electricity crackling. Rowan stands in what looks like a hospital, approaching a patient on a gurney. Then she rises several feet off the ground, her eyes turning dark as chaos breaks out around her. The footage suggests that Rowan’s powers are growing to a dangerous new level.

The tagline for the season is simple but chilling: “Power will be tested.”

Season 3 Moves the Story to Salem

For the first time, Mayfair Witches is leaving New Orleans behind. The third season relocates the Mayfair family saga to Salem, Massachusetts. This is a major shift for the show, which has stayed close to its New Orleans Gothic roots since it first premiered in January 2023.

According to AMC’s official description, the new season will explore the deeper mythology of witchcraft, introduce new “spellbound” families, and feature historical events from Salem, the town known for its infamous witch trials.

Co-showrunner Esta Spalding shared her excitement about the new direction:

“I am thrilled to welcome Tom Schnauz to our team for the third season of Mayfair Witches. A contemporary twist on the Salem story, it promises to be our most delicious yet.”

Alexandra Daddario Returns with a Darker Rowan

Alexandra Daddario, who gained widespread recognition for her role in The White Lotus, is back as Dr. Rowan Fielding, a neurosurgeon who discovers she is the heir to a powerful family of witches. The teaser shows Rowan exploring her dark new powers, and the implications are serious.

Harry Hamlin (Mad Men) returns as Cortland Mayfair, the family patriarch. Tongayi Chirisa is back as Ciprien Grieve, a Talamasca agent, and Alyssa Jirrels reprises her role as Moira Mayfair, Rowan’s cousin who can read minds.

New Faces Joining the Cast

Season 3 is bringing in several new cast members:

  • Betsy Brandt (Breaking Bad)
  • Michiel Huisman (Game of Thrones)
  • James Frain (Gotham)
  • Eliza Scanlen (Little Women)
  • Omar Maskati (Better Call Saul)

What the Teaser Shows About Rowan’s Powers

The teaser is only 15 seconds long, but it packs a punch. Rowan is shown levitating off the ground, her eyes turning completely dark. Electricity crackles around her as she approaches a patient on a hospital gurney.

The footage makes it clear that Rowan’s abilities are evolving into something more dangerous. One report described the teaser as showing Rowan unleashing a “terrifying new power”. Viewers have already started reacting to the visual appeal of the teaser, with some calling it “electrifying”.

The Connection to The Vampire Lestat

AMC chose to debut the teaser during The Vampire Lestat for a reason. Both shows are part of the Anne Rice Immortal Universe, which AMC has been building over the past few years. Mayfair Witches is the second entry in this franchise, following Interview with the Vampire.

The teaser also comes after The Vampire Lestat Episode 6 introduced a character named Merrick, a Mayfair witch played by Sarah Afful. This crossover suggests that the two shows are becoming more connected.

Production Details and Executive Team

Mark Johnson, who oversees the entire Anne Rice Immortal Universe for AMC Networks, serves as an executive producer on Season 3. The season is also executive produced by co-showrunners Esta Spalding and Thomas Schnauz (Breaking Bad), along with Michelle Ashford and Tom Williams.

Production for Season 3 moved from New Orleans to Vancouver, with filming starting in October 2025.

Release Date Information

Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches Season 3 is scheduled to premiere on AMC and AMC+ in 2027. An exact release date has not been announced yet.

For international viewers, the first two seasons of the series are available on Netflix in some regions, and Season 3 is expected to follow a similar distribution pattern.

The show is based on Anne Rice’s bestselling trilogy, Lives of the Mayfair Witches, which also includes The Witching Hour, Lasher, and Taltos.
