The public disagreement between Turning Point USA and commentator Candace Owens has taken a sharper turn. Blake Neff, the host of “The Charlie Kirk Show,” is now directly challenging Owens for what he sees as a deliberate twisting of the official court records related to the Tyler Robinson case.

Neff recently took to social media to respond to Owens’ latest claims about the investigation into the death of TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk. Owens had suggested that certain details reported by the media were false. Neff responded by pointing directly to the official charging document to set the record straight.

Neff Accuses Owens of Twisting the Evidence From the Charging Document

The conflict started when Candace Owens discussed the case on her show. She argued that “liars on the Internet” had wrongly claimed that Tyler Robinson‘s family turned him in to police. She also suggested that the family could not have recognized the gun used in the shooting because photos of it were not released to the public before Robinson’s arrest.

Blake Neff disagreed strongly with this version of events. He responded on X (formerly Twitter), accusing Owens of being intentionally misleading.

“This is a remarkably precise way to be dishonest. Because when one simply bothers to read the charging document, one sees that Robinson’s parents did not recognize the gun: They recognized photos of the suspect, which were released by the FBI, as looking like their son.”

Neff explained that the family’s identification process was different from what Owens suggested. According to the official documents, it was the photos of the suspect released by the FBI that led the parents to come forward. Only after that did they suspect the rifle, which they believed was a family heirloom, might be involved. He ended his post by questioning why Owens would so deliberately misrepresent the evidence.

What the Official Court Records Actually Say About Tyler Robinson

The official charging document, which Neff referenced, tells a very clear story about the moments leading up to the arrest. Tyler Robinson, 22, is accused of shooting Charlie Kirk at a TPUSA event at Utah Valley University in September 2025.

The documents show that after seeing news reports, Robinson’s mother thought she recognized her son in the suspect photos. Robinson’s father also noted that the police description of the weapon matched a rifle that had been given to their son as a gift.

When the parents confronted Tyler, he implied that he was the shooter. The documents state he told his parents, “There is too much evil and the guy [Charlie Kirk] spreads too much hate.” A family friend, who is a retired deputy sheriff, then helped convince Robinson to turn himself in peacefully.

The document also reveals that Robinson sent texts to a roommate admitting to the act. When asked why he did it, he replied, “I had enough of his hatred. Some hate can’t be negotiated out.”

The Defense Team Raises Questions About Ballistics Evidence

While the official narrative points to Robinson, his legal team is raising questions about the physical evidence. Court filings from March 2026 show that Robinson’s lawyers are asking for more time to review the case, specifically the ballistics.

The defense claims that a report from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) was “unable” to definitively link a bullet fragment found during the autopsy to the rifle found near the scene of the crime. The lawyers stated that the FBI is still doing a second analysis.

Robinson’s legal team is using this point to argue for more time to prepare for the preliminary hearing scheduled for May 2026. They believe this evidence could be key to their defense. Prosecutors, however, have other strong evidence, including DNA from Robinson found on the rifle and the detailed text messages he sent to his roommate.
