South Korean actor Byeon Woo-seok received unexpected good news recently. A child at a care facility in Seoul’s Yongsan District successfully completed medical treatment thanks to the actor’s donation.

The update came through an Instagram comment on August 5 from a former staff member of the children’s care facility. The person, who appeared with Byeon on the Netflix variety show “Yoo Jae-suk’s Camp” , shared the news directly with the actor.

“Team leader, there is something I want to tell you. I heard that a child at the children’s care facility in Yongsan District, where I used to work, was able to complete treatment safely thanks to your donation. Your warm heart reached a place that is precious to me, and it feels amazing and fills my heart. You have given great hope to a child. Thank you and I respect you.”

Byeon responded with joy, saying, “This is truly happy news”.

Consistent Support for Young Patients

The actor has built a record of donations for children and teenagers over several years.

2024: Byeon donated 300 million won to Severance Hospital for pediatric patients.

2025: He donated proceeds from merchandise sales to the Korea Childhood Cancer Foundation. He also gave 100 million won to the Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association for wildfire victims in Ulsan and Gyeongsang regions.

January 1, 2026: He donated 100 million won to Severance Hospital for pediatric and adolescent treatment. On the same day, he gave another 100 million won to G Foundation, an international development NGO, to support vulnerable female teenagers.

The cumulative donations to Severance Hospital alone total 400 million won across two separate gifts.

Why “Team Leader”?

The nickname “Team Leader” comes from Byeon’s role on the Netflix variety show “Yoo Jae-suk’s Camp” , which aired in May. On the show, he served as a team leader alongside Lee Kwang-soo and Ji Ye-eun. The former staff member used this nickname when sharing the news.

Current Activities

Byeon is currently filming the Netflix series “Solo Leveling” . He also began his “2026 BYEON WOOSEOK ASIA FANMEETING TOUR The Secret Library” on July 4 and 5 in Seoul. The tour will continue to Bangkok, Yokohama, Taipei, Singapore, Manila, Jakarta, and Hong Kong.
