Choi Siwon has been living in Taiwan for months to film his new mystery drama Do Not Wake Up, and his time on the island has turned into a series of reunions with old friends. The Super Junior star met up with two different groups of former co-stars from his past projects. One was the team behind the 2015 cycling film To the Fore, including Taiwanese actor Eddie Peng. The other was the cast and crew of the 2011 Taiwanese drama Skip Beat!, which starred Ivy Chen.
A Reunion 15 Years in the Making
Choi Siwon shared photos from a gathering with the Skip Beat! team on his Threads account on September 3, 2026. This was the first time the group had come together in 15 years. The drama, based on a popular Japanese manga, was Choi Siwon’s first Taiwanese project and introduced him to a wider Chinese-speaking audience.
A moment from the reunion brought especially good news. Choi Siwon learned that the drama’s executive director, Ke Zhengming, had successfully battled cancer and was in recovery. He wrote in his post that it was a relief to see the director doing well.
“Back then, none of us had children. Now, everyone has grown up and we are all together again. Seeing these familiar faces again after such a long time made me happy and touched, but at the same time, there was also a strange feeling that is difficult to put into words.”
Lee Donghae Gets a Funny Photo Edit
One key member of the Skip Beat! cast could not attend. Lee Donghae, Choi Siwon’s fellow Super Junior member who played the second lead, was in Seoul for a concert. To make sure Donghae was still part of the memory, Choi Siwon cut out a photo of Donghae playing chess and edited it into the group shot. Fans found the gesture funny and touching.
Choi Siwon also shared a wish for the group to meet more often. He wrote that he hoped they could find a chance to gather together every year.
Eddie Peng Brings a Sweet Surprise to the Set
A separate reunion happened with the To the Fore team. The 2015 sports action film about competitive cycling brought Choi Siwon together with Eddie Peng and Shawn Dou. The three actors became close friends during filming. Choi Siwon posted a group photo with Eddie Peng and the film’s crew, writing about the lasting bond they share.
Eddie Peng also made a surprise visit to the set of Choi Siwon’s new drama. He brought boxes of douhua, a traditional Taiwanese tofu pudding, for the entire cast and crew. The simple gift was a warm gesture that showed the strength of their friendship. The two friends also had dinner together on September 4, 2026, where Eddie Peng brought his family along.

The drama that brought Choi Siwon back to Taiwan is Do Not Wake Up, also known by its Mandarin title 要是未曾相遇就好了. The series is adapted from a popular LINE WEBTOON comic by Taiwanese artist M. Xi.
The story follows a famous Korean musical director who meets a piano prodigy in Taiwan. They fall in love, but their relationship is shadowed by nightmares and strange events that lead to a murder case. Choi Siwon stars opposite rising Taiwanese actress Lei Jia-Rui. The cast also includes Wang Bo-Jie and Sui Tang.
Filming for the six-episode series began in July 2026. Choi Siwon has been living in Taiwan for an extended period for the shoot, just as he did for Skip Beat! over a decade ago.
