The reality TV world is mourning the sudden loss of Darrell Sheets, the beloved Storage Wars star known as “The Gambler.” Sheets passed away at the age of 67 on April 22, 2026. Police found him at his home in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, from what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
As fans process the sad news, authorities have confirmed that the Darrell Sheets death investigation now includes looking into claims that the reality star faced serious online bullying before his death.
Police Confirm Investigation Into Cyberbullying Accusations
The Lake Havasu City Police Department responded to a residence on Chandler Drive around 2:00 a.m. on April 22. Officers found Sheets with a gunshot wound and pronounced him dead at the scene.
Sgt. Kyle Ridgway from the Lake Havasu City Police Department told Entertainment Weekly that investigators are aware of cyberbullying accusations connected to Sheets. “It is a part of the current active investigation,” Ridgway confirmed.
The police department’s Criminal Investigations Unit is handling the case. Sheets’ body was transferred to the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s Office for further examination.
‘Storage Wars’ Co-Stars Speak Out About Bullying
Rene Nezhoda, who appeared on Storage Wars with Sheets, shared details in a social media video. Nezhoda said Sheets had been dealing with a person who was “really, really tormenting him lately” through cyberbullying.
“Guys, just ’cause you watch us on television doesn’t mean you know us. It doesn’t mean you know what we’re about. Also, it doesn’t entitle you to bully somebody.” – Rene Nezhoda, Storage Wars cast member
Nezhoda explained that Sheets had been posting about this person online before his death. He urged law enforcement to look into that individual. “I really hope they look into that guy, and it’s just not a pass, because it’s just not right, guys,” Nezhoda said.
He also noted that while he and Sheets had a competitive relationship on the show, they shared a real friendship away from the cameras.

Brandi Passante, another Storage Wars original cast member, posted a heartfelt tribute to Sheets on Instagram. She wrote that she was “at a loss for words” after learning about his death.
“I’m at a loss for words! I’ve known Darrel Sheets for many years. I’m just so very sorry to hear the circumstances of his passing. My heart hurts for Brandon, Zoe, and Kimber.” – Brandi Passante
Passante shared that she lost a parent and a brother to similar situations. She used her message to encourage anyone struggling with emotional pain to seek help.
“If you are struggling, if you feel hopeless, or like no one cares. I assure you they do!! You are not alone,” Passante wrote. She included the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline number and urged people not to suffer in silence.

Sheets’ Career on Storage Wars
Darrell Sheets appeared on 163 episodes of Storage Wars from 2010 to 2023. He earned the nickname “The Gambler” for his risky bidding style. He often bought storage units in bulk without knowing their true value.
His catchphrase, “This is the WOW factor!,” became famous among fans. Sheets often appeared on the show with his son, Brandon Sheets. The father-son duo sometimes bid against each other, creating memorable TV moments.
In one Storage Wars episode, Sheets famously found a rare letter written by President Abraham Lincoln inside a storage unit.
Health Struggles and Life After Storage Wars
In 2019, Sheets suffered a mild heart attack. He later revealed on Instagram that he had congestive heart failure and serious lung issues. He said he needed surgery at that time.
After leaving Storage Wars, Sheets moved to Lake Havasu City, Arizona. He opened an antique store called “Show Me Your Junk” (later renamed “Havasu Show Me Your Junk”). The shop let him stay connected to the world of collectibles and treasures.
