The latest episode of ‘Euphoria’ shows Rue Bennett getting out of a grave only to crash into an emotional crisis, while Cassie gets a big Hollywood break.

HBO’s Euphoria dropped Season 3 Episode 6 on May 17, 2026. The episode, titled “Stand Still and See,” picks up right after last week’s cliffhanger. Rue (Zendaya) was buried up to her neck in dirt, waiting for Alamo (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) to swing a polo mallet at her head. The new episode shows she escapes that death trap. But the relief does not last long. Rue quickly finds herself in an even messier situation involving the DEA, a fentanyl deal, and a painful fight with Jules (Hunter Schafer).

Here is a full recap of the episode and an explanation of that strange burning tree ending.

Rue Negotiates for Her Life and Works With the DEA

Episode 6 starts with a flashback. Rue narrates the story of a young Alamo. Viewers learn that Alamo’s mother tricked a kind man named Preston. She stole everything from him. That betrayal made Alamo promise to never trust anyone again. That backstory explains why he is so violent.

Back in the present, Rue stops Alamo from killing her. She tells him that a girl named Faye (Chloe Cherry) was the driver of a getaway car. Rue promises she can get the money back. Faye agrees to help Rue. She helps Rue secretly record a meeting between Alamo and Laurie (Martha Kelly). In the meeting, Laurie asks Alamo to transport 80 kilos of fentanyl across the border.

After Rue gives the recording to the DEA, the agents tell her she did a good job. They say her legal case will likely be dropped if everything goes right. For the first time in a long time, Rue has a win. However, Alamo still does not fully trust her. He forces her to stay in the game to keep an eye on Laurie’s safe.

Cassie’s Acting Career Takes Off

While Rue is dealing with drug lords, Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) is chasing fame. She gets a small role on a TV show called “L.A. Nights.” During her first scene, Cassie forgets her lines. She starts talking about her real marriage to Nate (Jacob Elordi). She talks about being lied to and getting hurt.

The director, played by Sharon Stone, loves it. She thinks Cassie is a natural talent. The show wants to write a bigger part for Cassie. But there is a catch. Cassie has to delete her OnlyFans account where she makes adult content. Lexi (Maude Apatow) watches in disbelief as her sister throws away her online money to become a real actress.

Rue and Jules’ Relationship Falls Apart

Rue tries to fix things with Jules. She visits Jules’ apartment and says she wants a normal life. She talks about marriage, kids, and stability. Jules rejects her. She tells Rue that Rue is not sober enough for that life. Jules also says that sleeping together again was a mistake.

Rue gets angry. She says that Jules is just a “toy” for her married boyfriend, Ellis, and that he will never leave his family. The fight gets physical. Jules slaps Rue hard across the face and tells her to get out. Rue leaves feeling broken and humiliated.

Rue Calls Her Mother and Sees a Burning Tree

Later in the episode, Rue stops at a church. She waits for a key to be made so she can get into Laurie’s safe. While sitting in the pew, her mother calls her. Rue admits she misses home. She asks if redemption is possible for someone who has done so many bad things.

The episode ends with Rue driving at night. Another car tries to run her off the road. She crashes but survives. When she gets out of the car, she sees a tree on fire in the middle of the darkness. Rue drops to her knees and stares at the burning image. It looks like a spiritual warning, but the show does not explain what it means yet.

Fan Reactions to Episode 6

Viewers had mixed feelings about this episode. Some fans on social media called it the “weakest” of the season so far. Others criticized the pacing, saying there was too much talking and not enough action. One fan posted on X that the episode was “just a bunch of trash.” However, many agreed that Rue’s emotional scene in the church was the best part of the hour. Fans also pointed out Sydney Sweeney’s controversial nude scene with a snake as something that felt strange.

Euphoria Season 3 has two episodes left. Episode 7 will air on May 24, 2026, and the finale is set for May 31, 2026, on HBO and HBO Max.
