NBCUniversal Entertainment Japan dropped a new promotional video for Season 2. The trailer gives fans a clear look at the upcoming action. It begins with a lighthearted scene of the main character, Beryl Gardenant, starting his new role. The mood quickly changes to show breathtaking sword battles. The footage also highlights the new challenges Beryl will face.

The trailer includes new characters who will play important roles in the upcoming season. These include members of the Verdeapis Mercenary Group and other key figures from the story. The video also shows a tense moment between Beryl and his father, Moldea Gardenant.

Four New Voice Actors Join the Cast for Season 2

The production team has announced four new voice actors for the second season. These actors will bring new characters to life.

  • Hiroshi Yanaka voices Morris Pasyushka, the Pope of the Sphene religion.
  • Hiromu Mineta voices Kuriu Rybark, an agile duelist who uses two swords.
  • Takashi Kondo voices Hanoy Cressa, the pragmatic leader of the mercenary group Verdeapis.
  • Mami Uchida voices Prim, a nature mage who provides support in battles.

These new characters will add more depth and conflict to the story. The mysterious “White Maiden,” who communicates only through writing, will also appear. Her voice actor has not been revealed yet.

Season 2 Premieres in July on TV and Prime Video

From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman Season 2 has a confirmed release date. The show will premiere in Japan on Wednesday, July 8, 2026. It will air on TV Asahi’s IMAnimation W programming block. The series will also be broadcast on BS Asahi and AT-X.

For global audiences, the season will be available to stream exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. The streaming will start on Thursday, July 9, 2026, right after the Japanese broadcast. All episodes from the first season are also available on Prime Video for new viewers to catch up.

The staff and cast have put a lot of effort into the new season. The story will feature more action and deeper relationships between the characters.

Returning Staff and Cast Reunite for the New Season

The core team from the first season is returning for Season 2. Akio Kazumi is back as the director. The animation will be produced by two studios, Passione and Hayabusa Film. Kunihiko Okada is in charge of the series scripts. Satsuki Hayasaka is providing the character designs, and Yasuharu Takanashi will compose the music.

The main voice cast is also returning to reprise their roles. Hiroaki Hirata returns as the lead character, Beryl Gardenant. Other returning cast members include Nao Toyama as Allucia Citrus, Hitomi Ueda as Surena Lysandra, and Yuki Hirose as Curuni Crueciel.

Music for Season 2 Features Popular Rock Bands

The music for the new season will feature two well-known rock bands. The band Unicorn is performing the opening theme song titled “Kurenai no Ha”. The band BLUE ENCOUNT will perform the ending theme song, which is called “Mikansei”.

Shunichi Tanabe of BLUE ENCOUNT shared his thoughts on the song. He said the track is an honest answer to questions about life and existence that he had been putting off. He hopes fans will compare their own answers with the one in the song.

The Story Follows a Humble Swordsman’s Journey

From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman is based on a popular light novel series by Shigeru Sagazaki. The story follows Beryl Gardenant, a middle-aged man who runs a small swordsmanship dojo in a rural village. He believes he is just an ordinary instructor. His peaceful life changes when a former student, who is now a high-ranking knight, recruits him to be a special instructor in the capital.

Beryl soon finds out that many of his old students have achieved high status and power. They all use the sword-fighting techniques he taught them. The series is a classic fantasy about an “invincible swordsman” who does not realize his own strength. The franchise, including the light novels, manga, and spin-offs, has sold over 9 million copies.
