The Hulu crime thriller drops its most revealing episode yet, connecting the killer to the victim in a way nobody expected.
Furious Episode 4, titled “Flash Flood,” arrived on August 3, 2026, and it delivered some of the most important answers fans have been waiting for since the series premiered. The episode follows FBI Agent Alice Black (Emmy Rossum) and Detective Danny Kelly as they continue their search for the serial killer Catherine Grace. But this time, the investigation takes a personal turn for everyone involved.
The biggest reveal of the episode comes when Alice and Danny discover that Catherine Grace and Isabel Luna actually grew up in the same orphanage. This connection makes Catherine the primary suspect in Isabel’s disappearance and puts a new lens on everything the team thought they knew about the case.
However, the search doesn’t go smoothly. Catherine takes another person connected to Isabel hostage, raising the stakes even higher. Meanwhile, Nora (Alice’s superior) makes a discovery that could change everything—she realizes she worked on a 15-year-old case connected to Isabel Luna. But instead of sharing this information, Nora keeps it to herself and removes Alice from the case entirely.
The Orphanage Connection Changes Everything
Episode 4 begins with Alice dealing with the aftermath of her encounter with Marshall, her abusive ex-boyfriend who continues to haunt her both personally and professionally. She tries to call Danny, but he is spending time with his son Liam, who has a learning disability and lives in a care facility. Danny’s marriage is fragile, and these moments with his son may be some of the last he gets.
Alice’s personal struggles take a darker turn when she sets up another date at her house. She tells the man he must fight her before they have sex. He stops laughing when she lands the first blow. Hours later, Alice is bruised but victorious—though clearly not at peace. Frustrated and unable to sleep, she calls Nora, and they head to the local vice district hoping someone will recognize Isabel Luna from the photo.
Their search yields no immediate results. But back at the bureau, Nora goes through digital records and makes a troubling discovery: a report of a deceased girl matches Isabel Luna’s description. The matching wristbands confirm the connection. The most disturbing part? Nora herself handled the original case 15 years ago under the supervision of Ed George.
Nora hides this breakthrough from Alice. She doesn’t tell anyone—not even her partner.
Alice and Danny Visit the Orphanage
Alice and Danny later interview Emma Easton, the daughter of Jay Easton, hoping she can provide information about her family’s connection to the case. Alice apologizes and says she is concerned Emma’s family might be the next target. When Emma asks for more details, Alice says she can’t reveal much.
Danny mentions a photo of Emma’s father with another girl. Alice tries to calm the situation, but Danny points out they can’t show the photo because Emma is a minor. After seeing the photo, Emma says she doesn’t recognize the person and insists the photo is fake. But her explanation only makes Alice and Danny more suspicious.
The detectives then visit the orphanage where Isabel grew up. They learn she tried to run away multiple times. When they ask about her close friends, they find out it was Catherine Grace.
Alice Gets Removed From the Case
Towards the end of Episode 4, Nora meets with Ed George, her former boss. They start reconsidering Alice’s involvement in the case after hearing Marshall’s concerns.
Alice, meanwhile, discovers more details about Catherine and calls Nora. She tells Nora about Catherine being Isabel’s best friend and reveals Isabel’s boyfriend’s name, Adrian.
But Nora tells Alice she is taking her off the case, citing her mental health. Alice later learns that it was Nora’s case 15 years ago, but Nora doesn’t explain further.
Catherine’s New Target
While Alice and Danny investigate, Catherine continues her work. She sets up a new target using a fake identity. It is soon revealed that the young man’s father is her real target. The father recognizes Catherine the moment he sees her.
In the final scene of the episode, Hal is shown to still be alive after being targeted by Catherine.
