Punjabi singer Guru Randhawa has finally broken his silence on the massive social media trolling surrounding his latest song Fine Shyt. The track, which released on August 6, 2026, quickly became a talking point online. Many social media users criticized the song’s title, lyrics, and the music video’s office setting. On August 10, Randhawa took to Instagram to address the criticism directly. He shared a video and wrote a message asking everyone to “calm down” while calling the entire controversy “just a silly little slang”.
The Fine Shyt Song and Music Video
Fine Shyt is a collaborative track featuring vocals from Guru Randhawa and Yashvi Desai. The lyrics were written by Randhawa and Gurjit Gill. The music video, which dropped alongside the song, features Randhawa alongside several female actors including Ruhee Dosani, Divinity Bisht, Arshia Sinha, Raema Grover, Darlene Laura, and Mehar Kaur.

Before directly addressing the backlash, Guru Randhawa made a visit to the Golden Temple in Amritsar on Sunday, August 9. He shared a picture of himself sitting near the holy Amrit Sarovar, with his back to the camera.
While he did not mention the controversy directly in that post, he shared a message in Punjabi that spoke about faith and resilience. The message roughly translates to:
“Whom Waheguru blesses, no storm can ever shake. When Baba Nanak holds someone’s hand, they only keep moving forward.”
This post appeared to be a reflection on staying strong during difficult times. It suggested that Randhawa was choosing to focus on his spiritual strength rather than engaging with the negativity surrounding his song.
Tony Kakkar’s Reaction to the Fine Shyt Controversy
The controversy around Fine Shyt also caught the attention of fellow singer Tony Kakkar. Kakkar, who has himself faced trolling for his music in the past, took a playful jab at Randhawa.
He shared a video on Instagram pretending to be on a phone call with Randhawa. In the video, he joked:
“Yes, Guru bhai! What have you done, yaar? You did it all by yourself and didn’t even tell me. Would I have picked up your call? No, no, I don’t answer anyone’s calls, but I would definitely have picked up yours.”
