Hyun Bin’s movie, “Harbin,” about Korea’s fight for independence, has become a big hit. The Korean Film Council reported on January 11, 2025, that the movie has sold over 4 million tickets in just 19 days. Released on December 24, 2024, in South Korea, “Harbin” has consistently achieved milestones.
The movie topped the Korean box office for 19 days in a row. To celebrate this, Hyun Bin, Lee Dong Wook, Jo Woo Jin, and Park Hoon, along with director Woo Min Ho, shared a short video on YouTube, expressing their gratitude.

Earlier, “Harbin” had the biggest opening of the year, with over 3 million viewers from Christmas Eve to New Year’s Day. To mark this achievement, a special poster featuring the entire cast was released.
The Story of “Harbin”
Set in 1990s Japanese-occupied Korea, “Harbin” tells the story of Ahn Jung Geun (Hyun Bin), the only survivor of a fierce battle. He sets out on a dangerous mission to assassinate Itō Hirobumi (Lily Franky), a key figure of Japanese rule. Ahn Jung Geun’s mission takes him to Russia, where he has to find resources and avoid security forces, making the success of his plan uncertain.
The movie’s focus on patriotism and the sacrifices made by Koreans for their country’s independence seems to have connected with audiences. Since its release on December 24, 2024, fans and critics have shown a lot of support for the historical war thriller. Hyun Bin’s wife, actress Son Ye Jin, also shared her positive thoughts on the film, calling it a must-watch.
