Telugu cinema superstar Jr NTR and director Trivikram Srinivas are back together after eight long years. The duo officially announced their next project on June 29, 2026, putting an end to months of rumors. The film is reportedly based on Lord Muruga, also known as Kartikeya or Subrahmanya Swamy, the Hindu God of War.
The announcement created a massive buzz on social media as fans had been waiting for this combination since their last hit film together.
The Official Announcement and Poster
Jr NTR took to his social media accounts on Monday evening to share the big news. He posted a striking concept poster along with a caption that read, “The Son of Shiva. The Pride of Parvathi. The Eternal Commander. And, once again with TRIVIKRAM”.
The announcement poster features a grand image of Lord Shiva’s Trishul (trident) placed against a war-torn battlefield. The most interesting detail in the poster is the DNA-shaped cloud wrapping around the trident, which has caught the attention of many fans. The poster also carries the tagline: “One spear, one purpose, one divine reckoning”.

Social media exploded with excitement after the announcement. Fans quickly started guessing the film’s subject based on the poster and captions. Many pointed to the peacock emoji that producer Naga Vamsi used in his teaser posts, which is closely associated with Lord Muruga.

On the day of the announcement, he wrote a longer message: “The time has come to unleash the unparalleled power of Trivikram Srinivas‘ pen to the world on the grandest canvas of his career, a canvas without boundaries, without limitations. His most ambitious vision begins unfolding in just a few hours”.
He also shared, “Born in the North. Forged in the Heartland. Worshipped in the South. Now… A tale destined to belong to the universe”. This message directly connects to Lord Muruga’s story, who is worshipped widely across India, especially in the South.
The Long Gap Between Collaborations
Jr NTR and Trivikram Srinivas last worked together in 2018 on the movie Aravinda Sametha Veera Raghava. That film was a commercial hit, earning around ₹190 crore worldwide. It also starred Pooja Hegde, Jagapathi Babu, and Naveen Chandra.
The film told the story of a man returning from London to his village to end a violent generational blood feud after his father’s death. The movie was praised for its emotional storytelling and action sequences. The success of that film made fans eagerly wait for another collaboration between the actor and director.
Film’s Mythological Subject
The upcoming movie is said to be a grand mythological drama based on Lord Kartikeya, who is also known as Lord Muruga in Tamil Nadu and Skanda in other parts of India. He is considered the God of War, victory, and wisdom.
The film’s subject has been a topic of speculation for months. The title God of War and Shanmukhudu (another name for Lord Muruga) have been doing the rounds in industry circles. This project marks Jr NTR‘s return to the mythological genre after many years. As a child artist, he played Lord Rama in Bala Ramayanam. His role as Lord Yama in Yamadonga also received widespread appreciation.
