JTBC has given viewers a first look at its drama schedule for 2025, confirming that the highly anticipated romance drama ‘Waiting for Gyeongdo,’ starring Park Seo Joon and Won Ji An, is set for release next year. The network also highlighted several other major titles that are expected to air, building excitement for a year filled with compelling stories.
‘Waiting for Gyeongdo’ is a romantic comedy that explores the complex relationship between former lovers, Lee Gyeong Do and Seo Ji Woo. They first fell in love at age 20 and rekindled their romance at 28 before parting ways again. The story follows them as their paths cross unexpectedly once more, leading to a mix of romantic and humorous situations.
Park Seo Joon is set to play Lee Gyeong Do, an entertainment reporter for Dongwoon Ilbo. His character is described as a relatable office worker with a down-to-earth personality. His life takes a surprising turn when he reconnects with his ex-girlfriend Seo Ji Woo after her husband becomes involved in a cheating scandal.
Won Ji An takes on the role of Seo Ji Woo, the second daughter of Jarim Apparel. Her character is known as a glamorous celebrity who attracts public attention. Despite her dazzling image, she is dealing with the consequences of her husband’s actions. Her life changes dramatically when the affair is brought to light by none other than Gyeong Do, leading to her divorce. In her difficult moments, Seo Ji Woo finds herself thinking about the happiest love she experienced.
The drama will be directed by Lim Hyun Wook, known for his work on ‘King the Land,’ ‘Flower Crew: Joseon Marriage Agency,’ and ‘Life.’ The script is written by Yoo Young Ah, who has previously penned1 dramas such as ‘Thirty-Nine’ and ‘Divorce Attorney Shin.’ The series will weave together present-day events with flashbacks to their college years, showing their passionate on-again, off-again relationship.
The supporting cast for ‘Waiting for Gyeongdo’ includes Lee El, Lee Joo Young, Kang Ki Doong, and Jo Min Guk. Lee El plays Seo Ji Yeon, Seo Ji Woo’s older sister and the calm, intellectual CEO of Jarim Apparel, who is very protective of her sibling.
Lee Joo Young plays Park Se Young, a member of the theater club “Jirimeolryeol,” where she spent her youth with Lee Gyeong Do and Seo Ji Woo. Park Se Young is now the head of an art academy, fully supporting her husband Cha Woo Sik’s aspirations.
Kang Ki Doong portrays Cha Woo Sik, an aspiring actor filled with passion and romantic ideals, despite having little material wealth. His character’s deep love for his wife, Park Se Young, adds an interesting layer to the story. Jo Min Guk plays Lee Jung Min, who runs a used car business and serves as a link among the members of the Jirimeolryeol club. He organizes gatherings for his friends, keeping their unique bond alive.
The core group of friendsโLee Gyeong Do, Seo Ji Woo, Park Se Young, Cha Woo Sik, and Lee Jung Minโformed their strong bond during their university days in the theater club. Even as adults, they maintain their close friendship, finding a sense of youth whenever they meet. Viewers are keen to see the interactions and chemistry among these characters as they navigate their adult lives while holding onto their past connections.
JTBC has also provided a look at other major dramas scheduled for 2025. These include ‘Good Boy,’ starring Park Bo Gum and Kim So Hyun, a comic action drama about former national athletes who become police officers. Another drama, ‘MY YOUTH,’ will feature Song Joong Ki and Chun Woo Hee in a romance story about two people who reunite after more than a decade. Additionally, ‘The Good Man,’ a noir drama with Lee Dong Wook and Lee Sung Kyung, and ‘A Hundred Memories,’ a romance drama set in the 1980s, starring Kim Da Mi and Shin Ye Eun, are also on the list.
The network plans to maintain a strong Saturday-Sunday drama schedule, with ‘Waiting for Gyeongdo’ set to broadcast on Saturdays at 10:40 p.m. KST and Sundays at 10:30 p.m. KST.
‘Waiting for Gyeongdo’ is set to air in 2025, with more details about the exact premiere date to be announced by JTBC.
