Kim Sae-ron’s Family Says She Kept Protecting Kim Soo-hyun Until the End While He Advised Switching from KakaoTalk to Telegram, According to Alleged Garo Sero Report
The family of the late Kim Sae-ron has publicly shared details of the worries she expressed regarding actor Kim Soo-hyun before her passing. During a press conference held by their legal representative and the Korea Celebrity Suicide Prevention Association, concerns about legal notices and alleged suggestions from Kim Soo-hyun’s side were brought to light.
The press conference, which took place in front of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, saw attorney Bu Ji-seok, representing Kim Sae-ron’s family, and Kwon Young-chan, head of the Korea Celebrity Suicide Prevention Association, address the media. Kwon Young-chan stated that Kim Sae-ron’s agency sent her a second legal notice on March 25, 2024. He highlighted a section of the notice that allegedly threatened legal action if she posted anything on social media that could potentially harm the drama “Queen of Tears.” Kwon questioned the relevance of this to “Queen of Tears” and expressed concern for the pressure this put on a young individual like Kim Sae-ron.

“On March 25, 2024, Kim Sae-ron’s agency sent her a second legal notice. The final part of the document contained a threat, stating that legal action would be taken if she posted anything on social media (that might cause damage to “Queen of Tears”). But what does this have to do with “Queen of Tears”? Why should she have been responsible for that? Imagine how much a young person must have worried over this issue.”
Kwon further claimed that Kim Sae-ron was deeply concerned about Kim Soo-hyun until her final days. He shared a statement allegedly from her younger sibling, indicating that Kim Sae-ron had asked her mother what she should do if similar situations arose in the future and worried about the possibility of undergoing forensic analysis. Adding to this, Kwon stated that “Kim Soo-Hyun’s side reportedly suggested her to not use KakaoTalk and use Telegram instead.”
“Kim Sae-ron tried to protect Kim Soo-hyun until the very end. She once asked her mother, ‘Mom, what should I do if something like this happens in the future?’ She deeply worried about whether or not to undergo forensic analysis. This is a statement directly from her younger sibling. Kim Soo-Hyun’s side reportedly suggested her to not use KakaoTalk and use Telegram instead.”
Addressing potential repercussions for Kim Sae-ron’s family, Kwon pleaded for them to be left alone, emphasizing their fear for her two younger siblings. He mentioned that both siblings initially aspired to become actors, but one has already given up on this dream after the tragic passing of their sister, while the other remains uncertain about their future.
Regarding any legal action against Kim Soo-hyun, attorney Bu Ji-seok clarified that they are not currently pursuing such action, and therefore, the legal notice has not been used as legal evidence against him. However, he acknowledged that the existence of the legal notice might lead people to question if there is a connection between Kim Sae-ron’s death and Kim Soo-hyun’s side.
“We are not currently pursuing legal action against Kim Soo-hyun, so this has not been used as legal evidence. However, when people see this legal notice, they may naturally question whether there is some causal connection between Kim Sae-ron’s death and Kim Soo-hyun’s side.”
Kim Se-ui, representing the Garo Sero Research Institute, stated that the press conference primarily concerned the lawsuit against YouTuber Lee Jin-ho. He announced that a separate press conference regarding potential legal action against Kim Soo-hyun would be held in the future. He also mentioned that the legal notice would be submitted as evidence to support their claim that Lee Jin-ho disseminated false information in his videos.
Since March 10, the Garo Sero Research Institute has been asserting that Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Sae-ron were in a relationship between 2015 and 2021. They have been releasing photos, messages, and letters allegedly exchanged between the two to support their accusations.
In response to these claims, Kim Soo-hyun’s agency, Gold Medalist, issued statements on March 14 and 15 denying the allegations of a relationship spanning from 2015 to 2021. They stated that the two only dated between 2019 and 2020, after Kim Sae-ron reached adulthood. The agency also provided details regarding Kim Sae-ron’s contract termination fees and argued that the photos released by the Garo Sero Research Institute were taken in 2019.
