Margot Robbie’s production company LuckyChap is making big moves in television. The company behind Barbie, Promising Young Woman, and I, Tonya now has three major TV projects with Amazon Prime Video. One show has already become a global hit, while two more are on the way.
Sterling Point debuted on August 5, 2026, and quickly became the most-watched show on Prime Video worldwide. The coming-of-age drama comes from creator Megan Park, who previously made the film My Old Ass with LuckyChap.
The series follows 17-year-old Annie Jacobson, played by Ella Rubin (The Idea of You). Annie and her twin brother, played by Keen Ruffalo, were raised in New York City by their adoptive father, played by Jay Duplass. When their estranged grandfather dies, they inherit his island in Muskoka, Canada. Annie travels there to learn about her family history. She meets Ramona, played by Amélie Hoeferle, a girl who looks just like Annie’s late mother and claims the same man was her grandfather too.
The eight-episode season takes place over a summer filled with family secrets, romance, and drama. Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, known for The O.C. and Gossip Girl, serve as co-showrunners. The cast also includes Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Missi Pyle, and Bo Bragason.
Sterling Point has received strong reviews. On Rotten Tomatoes, it holds a 92% critic score and an 86% audience score. Variety’s TV critic called the show “wholly unique and wistfully authentic” for the YA genre. The series explores themes of grief, self-discovery, and facing the past.
‘Sterling Point’ Success Opens Door for More Seasons
Dani Gorin, who leads LuckyChap’s TV division, shared her thoughts on the show’s performance. She said making the show for audiences was the main goal, and seeing people connect with the characters and storytelling is what matters most.
The show’s success has led to questions about a second season. As of now, Sterling Point has not been officially renewed. The first season ended with several cliffhangers. Creator Megan Park has said there are multiple ways the story could continue. Star Ella Rubin has also expressed interest in returning as Annie.
‘Life Is Strange’ Live-Action Adaptation Moving Forward
LuckyChap is also working on a live-action TV adaptation of the hit video game Life Is Strange. The series was officially ordered by Amazon Prime Video.
Charlie Covell, known for the Netflix series The End of the F***ing World, serves as creator, showrunner, and executive producer. The show follows Max Caulfield, a photography student who discovers she can rewind time. She uses this power to save her childhood best friend Chloe Price, and together they investigate a disappearance in their town.
Tatum Grace Hopkins plays Max, and Maisy Stella plays Chloe. The cast also includes Tom Cullen, Leisha Hailey, Raúl Castillo, and Owen Teague. Billy Barratt, Emily Carey, Esther McGregor, Faly Rakotohavana, and Mia Isaac have also joined the series. Karyn Kusama (Yellowjackets, Jennifer’s Body) will direct the first two episodes.
Filming started on June 29, 2026, in Vancouver, Canada, and is expected to wrap up in October 2026. The series is expected to arrive on Prime Video in 2027. The show is produced by Square Enix, Story Kitchen, and LuckyChap, with Amazon MGM Studios handling production.
‘Sex Criminals’ Brings Comic Book Chaos to Prime Video
The third project in LuckyChap’s slate is Sex Criminals, an eight-episode series based on the Image Comics title by Matt Fraction and Chip Zdarsky.
Kumail Nanjiani (The Big Sick) is a co-creator and will also act in the series. He is joined by co-creators Emily V. Gordon and Tze Chun. The show’s logline reads: “Suze is a normal girl with an extraordinary ability: when she has sex, she stops time. One night, she meets Jon…who has the same gift. And so they do what any other sex having, time stopping couple would do: they rob banks.”
Imogen Poots and John Reynolds will play the lead roles of Suze and Jon. The cast also includes Pamela Adlon, BD Wong, Ayden Mayeri, Ashleigh Cummings, Joseph Lee, and Sunita Mani. Nia DaCosta (The Marvels, Candyman) will direct the first two episodes.
Fraction and Zdarsky, the comic’s creators, are set to executive produce. Gordon and Nanjiani executive produce under their Winter Coat Films banner.
“We’re overjoyed to have such talented people bring our dumb comic to life,” said Fraction and Zdarsky.
“‘Sex Criminals’ is the exact kind of thing Winter Coat aims to bring to life: love stories in weird places,” said Gordon and Nanjiani.
“I’ve been a fan of Matt Fraction and Chip Zdarsky’s ‘Sex Criminals’ since the first issue hit the stands,” said Chun. “This has been my dream project for over a decade.”
The series was greenlit in January 2026 and falls under LuckyChap’s first-look deal with Amazon MGM Studios. No premiere date has been announced yet.

LuckyChap has been in the television business since 2019. The company launched with the Hulu comedy Dollface and went on to produce acclaimed limited series like Netflix’s Maid. The company is also working on The Retrievals, a Netflix limited series starring Emilia Jones and produced by LuckyChap and Quiet Coyote.
The success of Sterling Point shows LuckyChap’s ability to create hit shows across different genres. With Life Is Strange and Sex Criminals in production, the company continues to expand its partnership with Amazon Prime Video.
Sterling Point is now streaming on Prime Video in more than 240 countries worldwide. Life Is Strange is expected to arrive in 2027. Sex Criminals does not yet have a release date.
