Prime Video is giving audiences a closer look at the upcoming Reacher spinoff series Neagley with a new featurette that takes fans behind the scenes of the highly anticipated show. The video, shared by Prime Video, features Maria Sten and other cast members talking about what makes this spinoff special and showing raw footage from the set.
The featurette arrives as Reacher Season 4 continues its weekly run on the streaming platform. The spinoff series is set to premiere on September 16, 2026, with all eight episodes dropping at once.
What the Neagley Featurette Reveals About the Series
The behind-the-scenes footage gives viewers a real look at how the spinoff is coming together. Greyston Holt, who plays Detective Hudson Riley in the series, points out that the show will let audiences “get to learn about her” backstory. Up until now, Reacher fans have only seen glimpses of Frances Neagley’s past. The series barely explored her history beyond her time working with Jack Reacher and being trained by him.
Nick Santora, the executive producer and showrunner for the series, notes that people who enjoyed Reacher will also love this new show. Adeline Rudolph, who plays Renee Birdwhistle, describes the storyline as a “rollercoaster”. Maria Sten herself adds that the action sequences in the series will be intense.
The featurette explores what drives Neagley into her dangerous investigation. The primary focus of the storyline is on how her character gets involved in solving the case of her best friend. After Neagley finds out that her best friend is dead, she understands that this is not a simple case but one with many layers that she needs to solve.
The Personal Story Behind Neagley’s Investigation
Maria Sten notes that the investigation is “very personal” to her character, which will also cause her character to face her “repressed trauma”. Neagley’s past plays a vital role in the storyline, as she had a “hard time growing up”.
The series follows Frances Neagley, a private investigator in Chicago and former military protégé of Jack Reacher in the Army’s 110th Special Investigations Unit. When she learns that a beloved friend from her past has been killed in a suspicious accident, she becomes hell-bent on justice.
Using everything she learned from Jack Reacher and her time as a member of the 110 Special Investigators, Neagley puts herself on a dangerous path to uncover a menacing evil. The trailer shows Neagley discussing how her friend Tommy died on the train tracks in Chicago. She does not buy into the theory that he was on drugs and committed suicide.
She teams up with local authorities to uncover what Tommy was doing prior to his death. Together, they discover that he may have been involved with a “rich and powerful” cult based on a nearby farm. “I’m going to burn that farm to the f–king ground,” Neagley says in the trailer.

Maria Sten leads the series as the title character Frances Neagley. Alan Ritchson is confirmed to appear as Jack Reacher in a guest role. The confirmed cast for Neagley includes:

Expanding the Reacher Universe

Lee Child, the author of the Jack Reacher novels, also executive produces alongside Don Granger, Sam Hill (who directed the first two episodes), Adam Higgs, and Lisa Kussner.
The action scenes are plentiful in the trailer for Neagley. Frances Neagley is not the imposing physical presence that Jack Reacher is, but she is more than willing to take on a fight. The series relocates Neagley to Chicago, where she is working as a private investigator.
