The halls of Nevermore Academy are getting a new face. Netflix’s hit supernatural series Wednesday has added British actor Oliver Cunliffe to its Season 3 cast in a recurring role. The rising star will appear across multiple episodes of the upcoming season, though his character details remain a secret for now.

Cunliffe joins an already packed roster of new and returning cast members for the show’s third installment. Production is currently happening in Ireland and Paris, with Netflix aiming for a 2027 release.

Who Is Oliver Cunliffe?

The British actor brings solid genre experience to the Addams Family universe. Cunliffe is best known for playing Louis in the CBBC and Hulu sci-fi mystery series Silverpoint. The show earned two BAFTA nominations and an RTS award during his time on it.

His television work also includes appearances on Amazon Prime Video’s Patterns, Sky’s Safe Space, and the long-running BBC soap EastEnders. He has also appeared in the BBC’s medical soap opera Doctors.

Standing at 6-foot-3, Cunliffe has a strong screen presence that fits well with the darker, gothic tone of Wednesday. His casting marks a major step forward in his career, giving him the chance to share scenes with established Hollywood names.

What Does a Recurring Role Mean?

Cunliffe’s role is described as recurring, not a series regular. This means his character will appear in several episodes throughout the season and will be tied to an ongoing story arc.

He won’t be in every episode alongside Jenna Ortega (Wednesday Addams), but his presence will be felt across the season’s mystery. The character could be a new student at Nevermore Academy, a potential enemy, or something else entirely.

The Growing Season 3 Cast

Cunliffe is far from the only new name joining Wednesday Season 3. The show has added a long list of high-profile actors.

Eva Green (Casino Royale, Penny Dreadful) will play Ophelia Frump, Morticia’s estranged sister and Wednesday’s aunt. This character was teased in the Season 2 finale and reportedly wants Wednesday dead.

Winona Ryder (Stranger Things, Beetlejuice) is reuniting with director Tim Burton for a guest role as Tabitha. The show’s executive producers called Ryder the “GOAT” when it comes to outcasts.

Lena Headey (Game of Thrones), Andrew McCarthy (St. Elmo’s Fire), and James Lance (Ted Lasso) have all joined in undisclosed guest roles.

Other new cast members include:

  • Chris Sarandon (The Princess Bride) as Balthazar
  • Noah Taylor (Game of Thrones, Peaky Blinders) as Cyrus
  • Oscar Morgan (A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms) as Atticus
  • Kennedy Moyer as Daisy

Joanna Lumley, who plays Grandmama Hester Frump, has been promoted to a series regular for Season 3.

Returning Cast Members

The core cast is coming back for Season 3. Jenna Ortega returns as Wednesday Addams, alongside Emma Myers as Enid Sinclair, Hunter Doohan as Tyler Galpin, and Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester.

Catherine Zeta-Jones (Morticia Addams) and Luis Guzmรกn (Gomez Addams) are also returning. Other returning cast members include Joy Sunday, Moosa Mostafa, Georgie Farmer, Isaac Ordonez, Billie Piper, and Victor Dorobantu.

One departure has been confirmed. Noah B. Taylor, who played Bruno Yuson, will not return for Season 3.

Production and Release Details

Production on Wednesday Season 3 began in February 2026 near Dublin, Ireland. Filming has also taken place in Paris, with Jenna Ortega, Fred Armisen, and director Tim Burton spotted shooting scenes along the Seine in April 2026.

The show is being filmed at Ashford Studios in Wicklow, Ireland. Season 3 will include a Parisian adventure where Wednesday and Uncle Fester try to rescue Enid, who transformed into a full Alpha werewolf in Season 2.

Netflix has not announced an official release date for Wednesday Season 3. The show was notably missing from Netflix’s 2026 release preview, indicating a 2027 debut. Industry reports suggest the season could arrive in summer 2027, possibly around July.

The season is expected to have eight episodes, matching the first two seasons.
