Netflix’s live-action One Piece adaptation just reached a major milestone. The streaming service officially announced that filming for Season 3 has wrapped. The third season, titled One Piece: The Battle of Alabasta, is now in post-production. The news came with a special cast photo from the set in Cape Town, South Africa. The image shows the main cast in full costume, standing in front of a mural of the villain Crocodile.

This update gives fans a clear sign that the show is moving forward. The official social media post from Netflix said, “That’s a wrap on One Piece season 3″. The post confirmed that the journey is far from over, which has led to more talk about a possible fourth season.

What to Expect from Season 3

Season 3 will cover the Alabasta arc, one of the most popular storylines from Eiichiro Oda’s original manga. The story picks up where Season 2 ended. The Straw Hat Pirates, led by Monkey D. Luffy, have agreed to help Princess Nefertari Vivi save her kingdom.

The official Netflix logline says, “A rebellion threatens to tear the nation apart, fueled in secret by one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, the ruthless Sir Crocodile, and his underground syndicate Baroque Works, who seek to conquer Alabasta for themselves.” The season will show the Straw Hats dealing with a civil war and facing a powerful Warlord to protect Vivi’s home.

The show’s co-showrunners Joe Tracz and Ian Stokes shared their thoughts on this arc, saying:

“For many fans of One Piece, Alabasta is the arc that hooked them as nakama for life, combining the incredible talent of Eiichiro Oda-san and memorable characters in a thematically rich, emotionally compelling and visually spectacular story. Getting to this story has been a dream for our team since the live-action series began.”

Returning Cast and New Faces

The main cast will return for Season 3. This includes:

  • Iรฑaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy
  • Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro
  • Emily Rudd as Nami
  • Jacob Romero as Usopp
  • Taz Skylar as Sanji

Xolo Maridueรฑa, known for Cobra Kai and Blue Beetle, has been cast as Portgas D. Ace. Ace is Luffy’s older brother and a key figure in the Alabasta story.

Tony Award-winner Cole Escola will play Bon Clay (Mr. 2). Bon Clay is a fan-favorite character. The show describes Bon Clay as a theatrical assassin who makes combat look like performance art.

Daisy Head will appear as Miss Doublefinger, and Awdo Awdo will play Mr. 1. Both are top agents of Baroque Works.

Joe Manganiello, who plays Crocodile, has been promoted to a series regular for Season 3. Lera Abova (Miss All Sunday) and Sendhil Ramamurthy (King Nefertari Cobra) have also been promoted to regular roles.

Release Date for One Piece Season 3

Netflix has confirmed that Season 3 will arrive in 2027. The exact release date has not been shared. The current timeline points to a mid to late 2027 debut.

The production schedule explains the long wait. With filming now complete, the show enters a long post-production phase. The Alabasta arc will require heavy visual effects to bring the desert kingdom and Devil Fruit powers to life.
