Outlander: Blood of My Blood Season 2 is coming to Starz this September, and the full cast is set to return. The prequel series tells the love stories of Jamie and Claire’s parents, and the new season will continue their journeys through war, separation, and time travel.
The show’s first season introduced viewers to two couples. Jeremy Irvine plays Henry Beauchamp and Hermione Corfield plays Julia Beauchamp, who are Claire’s parents. Jamie Roy stars as Brian Fraser and Harriet Slater plays Ellen MacKenzie, who are Jamie’s parents. These four actors are all returning for the second season.
The Main Cast Returns for Season 2
The four lead actors are back to continue their characters’ stories. Jeremy Irvine (known for War Horse) returns as Henry Beauchamp, a World War I soldier who travels through time. Hermione Corfield reprises her role as Julia Beauchamp, Henry’s wife and Claire’s mother.
Jamie Roy is back as Brian Fraser, Jamie’s father, and Harriet Slater returns as Ellen MacKenzie, Jamie’s mother. These two characters come from rival clans, which creates constant tension in their relationship.
The show follows two parallel love stories. One story follows Henry and Julia Beauchamp, who met during World War I and ended up traveling back in time to 18th-century Scotland. The other story follows Brian Fraser and Ellen MacKenzie, whose forbidden romance faces challenges from their feuding families.
Supporting Cast Members Also Returning
Several supporting actors are also returning for Season 2. Tony Curran is back as Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat, Brian’s father. Séamus McLean Ross returns as Colum MacKenzie, Ellen’s brother. Sam Retford plays Dougal MacKenzie, another of Ellen’s brothers.
Rory Alexander returns as Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser, Brian’s cousin and close friend. Conor MacNeill is back as Ned Gowan, a lawyer who helps the characters navigate their complicated situations.
These supporting characters play important roles in the story. Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat, is known for his scheming nature. Colum and Dougal MacKenzie are leaders of Clan MacKenzie who often disagree on how to handle problems.
What to Expect in Season 2
Season 2 picks up right where Season 1 ended. Henry and Julia Beauchamp were reunited at the standing stones of Craigh na Dun, hoping to return to their own time and their young daughter Claire. But the new season shows Julia alone with their baby, separated from Henry once again.
Brian Fraser and Ellen MacKenzie had run away together, choosing each other over their families. But their escape was interrupted when the 1715 Jacobite Rising began, throwing the clans into war. Now they must choose between their love for each other and their loyalty to their clans.
The new season will test both couples as they face separation, war, and difficult choices. Henry must deal with mental health struggles while trying to find his way back to Julia. Julia is forced to return to Castle Leathers and deal with Lord Lovat, her sinister husband.
Brian must fight beside his father, Lord Lovat, in the rebellion. Ellen returns to Castle Leoch to find her brothers feuding over how to respond to the war. She comes up with a plan to protect Clan MacKenzie no matter which side wins.
