Park Bo Gum and Kim Yoo Jung are back together on screen, and their reunion has sparked a conversation that has K-drama fans buzzing. During a two-day trip in Hongcheon, Gangwon Province, the main cast of Love in the Moonlight gathered for a special variety show celebrating the drama’s 10th anniversary. A simple question about marriage turned into one of the most talked-about moments of the reunion. Park Bo Gum picked Kim Yoo Jung as the cast member most likely to marry first, and his reason was as sweet as it was simple.
The Cast Reunites After a Decade
The five main actors of Love in the Moonlight—Park Bo Gum, Kim Yoo Jung, Jinyoung, Chae Soo Bin, and Kwak Dong Yeon—came together for a special two-episode variety program titled Love Again in the Moonlight. The show follows the group as they head out on a one-night, two-day trip to Hongcheon, Gangwon Province. According to the production team, the reunion was made possible after Park Bo Gum suggested that the cast commemorate the 10th anniversary in a meaningful way. All four of his co-stars agreed despite their busy schedules.
Filming took place on September 4, and the cast reportedly enjoyed the trip in a bright and cheerful atmosphere, as if they had returned to the filming set from 10 years ago. The first episode aired on September 16 at 8:30 p.m. KST on KBS2, with the second episode scheduled for September 23 at 9 p.m. KST.
Park Bo Gum’s Pick for First to Marry
During a lunch scene in the first episode, Park Bo Gum asked his co-stars whether anyone had ever been asked which of them would marry first. None of the four others had been asked that question before. Kim Yoo Jung then asked Park Bo Gum what his answer had been. He told her that he had placed her in first place.
The answer surprised Kim Yoo Jung, who asked why he thought she would marry before the others. Park Bo Gum explained that he believed she would meet someone good before them and would marry happily. He later shared in an interview with the production team that he thought Kim Yoo Jung would be the one who met the right person and would go well.
Kim Yoo Jung reacted with playful disbelief. She snapped back, “I am the youngest, so why?”. The moment added a light and funny note to the reunion, showing the comfortable bond the cast still shares after a decade.
Who Would Marry Last
Kim Yoo Jung did not let the conversation end there. She turned the question back on Park Bo Gum, asking who he thought would be the last to marry. Park Bo Gum simply looked at Jinyoung without saying a word. Everyone burst into laughter, since Jinyoung is the oldest member of the group.
Park Bo Gum later clarified that he did not have anyone specific in mind when talking about a late marriage. He explained, “I do not think there is anyone who seems like they would be late to go”. The playful exchange showed how the cast members still tease each other as easily as they did during filming 10 years ago.
The Drama That Made Them Stars
Love in the Moonlight aired on KBS2 in 2016 and became one of the most beloved Korean historical dramas of its time. The series is based on a popular web novel and tells the story of a palace romance between Crown Prince Lee Yeong, played by Park Bo Gum, and Hong Ra On, a cross-dressing eunuch played by Kim Yoo Jung. The drama ranked No. 1 in TV buzz for seven consecutive weeks and concluded with a peak viewership rating of 23.3 percent.
At the time of filming, Kim Yoo Jung was only seventeen years old. She has said that the name “Ra-on” itself is a pure Korean word meaning “joyful,” and that the character shared warm affection with people. Looking back at the past 10 years, she shared that she has gained “a genuine strength” and the courage to face difficult situations more actively.
What the Cast Shared About the Reunion
The reunion gave the actors a chance to reflect on how much has changed since 2016. Park Bo Gum said, “Everyone looks just the same as when we first met. I am truly happy to wear hanbok again and capture how we look now”. He added that even the weather felt similar to when they were filming back then, and that whenever they got together, the laughter never stopped.
Jinyoung opened up about the bond the cast has maintained over the years. “At first, we met for work, but it is not easy to stay in touch, share each other’s things, and support one another for 10 years. I am happy that we ultimately pulled that off,” he said. He promised his co-stars, “Let us go on for a long, long time”.
Chae Soo Bin, who played Jo Ha-yeon, shared that she now draws courage from her character. She said, “I feel like I always worked hard without big worries, but looking back, I was always anxious. After it passes, it is nothing, so I just want to tell myself that I am doing well”. Kwak Dong Yeon, who recently enlisted in the military, expressed regret about his fiercely driven twenties. He left a witty message for his colleagues: “Since I will be faithfully guarding the country until early 2028, do not worry and please pursue your dreams to your heart’s content”.

Behind-the-Scenes Moments
The variety show also captured the cast’s fun and unfiltered personalities. Kwak Dong Yeon took on the role of the mischievous troublemaker, teasing his castmates throughout the trip. Kim Yoo Jung fully embraced her playful maknae side in front of her older co-stars, and the two brought laughter with their lively back-and-forth that resembled the playful bickering of real-life siblings.
Jinyoung revealed an unexpected side of himself as the “scaredy-cat eldest brother” who worries about ghosts at all times. Chae Soo Bin surprised everyone with an unexpected shout despite her innocent and delicate appearance, showing off what Kwak Dong Yeon humorously called her “herbivore with a temper” side.
During the trip, the conversation also turned to something more personal: weight. Jinyoung said he weighed 66 kilograms at the time. Park Bo Gum told him he had taken good care of himself. Park Bo Gum then compared his current weight to what he weighed during filming. Back then, he was 65 kilograms. He jokingly announced 73, then 74, and 75 kilograms before finally revealing that he weighed 76 kilograms.
The five actors also put their character costumes back on during the reunion. On September 16, Kim Yoo Jung shared photos with her former co-stars on social media. Park Bo Gum appeared in a traditional royal outfit, complete with the headpiece of Lee Yeong, the crown prince he played in the drama. They posed together in their costumes, and Park Bo Gum pulled out his phone to take selfies with the group.
The cast also reunited for a special photo shoot and interview with Elle Korea to mark the anniversary. Dressed in traditional hanbok at a traditional Korean house for the first time in a long while, they recreated a scene of youth from 10 years ago. The production team said, “It is especially meaningful that the five actors, who rose to stardom through Love in the Moonlight, have reunited 10 years later as leading figures in K-content that is attracting attention around the world”.
