The streaming service Prime Video has acquired the rights to the upcoming six-part action thriller series Embassy in six major territories. The deal brings together a star-studded cast including Anna Kendrick, Sam Heughan (known for Outlander), and Academy Award winner J.K. Simmons. The series is currently filming and is scheduled to debut in 2027.
The geopolitical thriller follows Layla (played by Anna Kendrick), a sharp American diplomat working at the U.S. Embassy in London. When armed mercenaries storm the building, she faces a difficult decision: protect the U.S. Ambassador (played by J.K. Simmons) or follow his orders to help a high-value asset escape. As the situation becomes more complicated, Layla must trust her instincts and accept help from her ex-fiancé, a British SAS soldier named Connor Wright (played by Sam Heughan), during the tense hours before a military extraction team arrives.
Streaming Rights Secured for Six Territories
Prime Video has locked down the distribution rights for Embassy in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, France, Australia, and New Zealand. The series comes from production companies AGC Television, Ascendant Fox, and Turbine Studios. AGC International will handle global sales for other regions. The Prime Video UK acquisitions team licensed the show for Amazon.
The series is currently filming on location in Cologne, Germany and London, UK. Production began in early 2026, with a target release window of 2027. An exact premiere date has not been announced yet.
