What Happened in Episode 2

Episode 2, titled “A Tree With Sickles,” aired on July 11. In this episode, Kodo Iwamoto takes on a new mission where he meets an underclassman named Kai Haramachi.

The two work together to uncover the mystery behind a cursed tree covered in sickles. Kai is described as a troublemaker who keeps getting Iwamoto into trouble. He holds a small grudge against Iwamoto because Iwamoto got a position that Kai wanted.

Unlike Iwamoto, Kai does not have any supernatural abilities. His role in the story appears to be different from other characters the series has introduced so far.

The episode also introduced new characters including Ryu Sazame (the umbrella boy) and Mizuhi Awadama (the doll boy). These characters seem to have their own abilities and will likely play bigger roles in upcoming episodes.

The school in the series has three divisions: research, frontlines, and quarantine. The research division handles studies, frontlines trains recruits, and quarantine holds students with abilities.

What to Expect in Episode 3

Episode 3 is scheduled to release on July 18. While specific plot details for this episode have not been fully revealed, the series follows an episodic format where Iwamoto travels to different locations to investigate supernatural cases.

The story is set in the 1910s during Japan’s Taisho era. Kodo Iwamoto is a third-year student at Seiho Middle School, a military-run institution that studies supernatural phenomena. His mission is to find people with special abilities and recruit them for military purposes.

Episode 3 will likely continue this pattern, with Iwamoto encountering new characters and mysterious events as he travels across the country.

About the Series

Recommendations from Iwamoto-Senpai is based on the manga by Hiroshi Shiibashi, who also created “Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan”. The manga started as a one-shot on Shonen Jump+ in March 2020 and later began serialization in Ultra Jump in March 2021.

The story follows Kodo Iwamoto, a military school student who travels across Japan investigating paranormal phenomena.
