SEVENTEEN’s S.Coups and Mingyu Face Backlash Over Upcoming Show With Sulli’s Ex Choiza; Fans Demand Boycott

SEVENTEEN members S.Coups and Mingyu are facing strong criticism from fans after news broke of their appearance on the YouTube show CHOIZA ROAD, hosted by rapper Choiza of Dynamic Duo. The backlash stems from Choiza’s controversial past, particularly his relationship with the late Sulli, a former f(x) member who tragically passed away in 2019. Fans are now calling for a boycott of the show, using hashtags like #BOYCOTT_CHOIZA_ROAD and #PROTECT_SEVENTEEN on social media.

The teaser for the episode, released on May 28, 2025, shows S.Coups and Mingyu recording music with Choiza and his Dynamic Duo partner Gaeko. However, instead of excitement, fans expressed anger and disappointment. Many believe that appearing on Choiza’s show is equivalent to supporting his alleged problematic behavior.

Choiza, whose real name is Choi Jae-ho, publicly dated Sulli from 2013 to 2017. Their relationship faced heavy scrutiny due to their 13-year age gap and accusations of inappropriate behavior. In 2015, Choiza released the song “Eat Pray Love”, which many fans interpreted as having sexually suggestive lyrics about Sulli. After her death in 2019, Choiza was criticized for his past actions, with some blaming him for contributing to the public pressure she faced.

Sulli’s mother also spoke out against their relationship in a 2020 MBC documentary, expressing disapproval of the age gap. This further fueled negative perceptions of Choiza. Now, with SEVENTEEN’s involvement in his show, fans are demanding that Pledis Entertainment and HYBE cancel the episode.

“ATTENTION CARATs!! Please, do not watch SEVENTEEN’s collaboration with Choiza, give it no views or likes. In this way, we can protect SEVENTEEN from the issue, and I’m sure they are already aware of it. #PROTECT_SEVENTEEN #BOYCOTT_CHOIZA_ROAD PROTECT YOUR IDOLS PLYBE!”

“Please be aware of what is happening and DO NOT support that show or anything that comes out of it. Don’t post or associate with even a second of anything related to Choiza or Dynamic Duo.”

“There are 27363744 other YouTube shows they could’ve gone on instead of this.”

Fans argue that SEVENTEEN, as one of the biggest K-pop groups, should avoid associating with controversial figures. Some have even tagged Pledis Entertainment, pleading for the episode’s cancellation.

“@pledis_17 @pledis17_STAFF CANCEL CHOIZA SHOW RELEASE WITH SCOUPS AND MINGYU. WE PLEAD YOU TO NOT RELEASE AND I’M SURE YOU KNOW THE REASONS VERY WELL.”

“CARAT’s LETS BOYCOTT THE COLLABORATION OF GYUCHEOL AND CHOIZA. DON’T WATCH AND DON’T ENGAGE IN THAT SHOW!!”

The backlash comes at a sensitive time, as SEVENTEEN recently celebrated their 10th debut anniversary with their album HAPPY BURSTDAY. Fans worry that this controversy could overshadow their achievements.

As of now, neither Pledis Entertainment nor HYBE has responded to the backlash. Industry sources suggest the episode may still be released, but there are rumors of possible edits or delays due to fan pressure.

Choiza has not publicly addressed the boycott calls. However, after Sulli’s death, he posted a message on Instagram expressing grief and regret over their past.

The situation highlights the ongoing debate about accountability in the K-pop industry. Fans want their idols to distance themselves from figures linked to past controversies. The boycott movement continues to grow, with many refusing to support the episode when it airs.
