Bollywood director Farah Khan has shared a funny behind-the-scenes story from the sets of her 2004 film Main Hoon Na. The incident involved actor Murali Sharma and a harness stunt that went completely wrong, leaving Shah Rukh Khan laughing uncontrollably.

During a recent cooking vlog on her YouTube channel, Farah visited actors Murali Sharma and Ashwini Kalsekar at their Mumbai home. The conversation quickly turned to their time working together on the hit action-comedy. Farah was joined by her cook, Dilip, for the episode, which mixed food, fun, and fond memories.

The Stunt That Sent Murali Sharma Flying

While reminiscing, Murali Sharma, who played the character Captain Khan in the film, recalled a challenging stunt scene involving a harness and a car door. He explained that the plan was simple: he was supposed to fly up only to the first floor while hanging onto a car door.

However, the execution was far from smooth. Farah Khan explained that the equipment and safety practices available at the time were not as advanced as they are today. She said, “At that time, the quality of harnesses wasn’t very good and people didn’t really know how to use them properly.” According to her, the plan was for Murali to get out of the car and hang on to the door. Instead, both Murali and the door flew up together into the air.

It was Murali’s first time performing such a stunt with a harness. The unexpected flight was a funny sight for the entire crew. Murali Sharma recalled, “These people were laughing. That was my first time on a rope. When Shah Rukh sir came, he was shown the entire shot. He rolled on the floor laughing”.

Ashwini Kalsekar, Murali’s wife and an actress herself, added a fun detail. She pointed out that the fear on Murali’s face in the final scene shown in the movie is completely real. She laughed, “Even when you see that shot now, he has those real scared expressions”.

Other Funny Memories From the Set

The vlog episode was not the first time Farah has shared funny stories from the Main Hoon Na sets. In previous interviews, she has recalled several other hilarious incidents. One famous story involves a scene where actor Satish Shah had to spit water on Shah Rukh Khan. The actor found the scene so funny that he kept laughing for five to six takes. Farah had to step in and tell him, “Karle na shot, he is spitting on you”.

Farah has also shared funny stories about the cast. During a visit to Zayed Khan’s house for her vlog, she recalled hitting him so often that he started wearing butt pads to protect himself. They both laughed about this memory, showing the fun atmosphere they had on set. She also shared a story about scolding Sushmita Sen for how she draped her saree, telling her it looked like a “lungi”.
