The new season of Lock Upp has barely started, and the drama is already reaching peak levels. A heated argument between contestants Shreya Kalra and Akanksha Choudhary has taken a controversial turn. Shreya is now facing intense criticism online after she made personal remarks about Akanksha’s family and financial background during a live showdown. Viewers have called her out for “going below the belt” and using “cheap mentality” in the fight.
The Argument That Started It All
The conflict began during a conversation in the Lock Upp house. It all started when contestant Sufi Motiwala asked Shreya to bet that a fight would break out soon. Pointing at fellow inmate Yogesh Rawat, Shreya said, “With him around, it will happen in two minutes.” This remark did not sit well with Yogesh, who quickly fired back. He accused Shreya of flirting with him even though she was already in a relationship. He also called her “desperate” during their exchange.
Shreya did not stay quiet. She hit back by calling Yogesh a cheater. She then took a dig at his “love connection” with Akanksha. This prompted Akanksha to step into the argument and ask Shreya to stop making such remarks.
Shreya Brings Akanksha’s Family Into the Fight
The argument reached a new level when Shreya turned her attention directly to Akanksha. She called Akanksha a “homewrecker” and used abusive language. She also accused Akanksha of “sleeping with Yogesh” and “deceiving other women,” saying, “The only talent you have is chasing committed men.”
Then, Shreya made comments about Akanksha’s family’s money situation. She accused Akanksha of paying for positive publicity. Shreya questioned, “Now I think, where did you even get money for it, because you keep saying everyone is poor in your house.” Akanksha responded that she earns her own money now. Shreya then asked, “Isn’t your brother an IAS officer? Then how come you are poor?” Akanksha made it clear that her brother became an IAS officer through his own hard work. Sufi Motiwala was also heard asking Shreya not to go below the belt.

The clip of the fight went viral quickly. Social media users were very critical of Shreya’s comments. One user commented, “So cheap, Shreya.” Another wrote, “She has crossed all limits.” A viewer expressed, “Being a public personality and having such a cheap mentality. So disgusting.” Another comment read, “Saying about her family matters is just so below the belt.” Many called Shreya “classless” and “bitter.”
Even Akanksha’s friends, like actor Sorab Bedi, called out Shreya’s remarks. He said, “Someone tell Shreya that in India, most of the IAS officers come from a poor family. What does she want to say only Ambani’s kid can be IAS?” Reality TV personality Rajiv Adatia also shared his opinion, calling Shreya “the most irritating contestant” on the show.
Many viewers felt Shreya crossed a line by making personal remarks. One person wrote, “Going on someone’s family is such a cheap thing to do. Shreya proved ‘aurat hi aurat ki dushman hai’ (Women are each other’s worst enemies).”

This fight did not come out of nowhere. The tension between Shreya, Yogesh, and Akanksha started before Lock Upp, during their time on Splitsvilla X6. On that show, Yogesh and Akanksha had a strong connection. However, a major twist brought Yogesh’s ex-girlfriend, Ruru Thakur, into the villa. Yogesh had to choose between the two and he picked Ruru. This decision left Akanksha heartbroken and caused a lot of backlash online.
The drama continued after the show. Contestants claimed that Yogesh and Akanksha were secretly meeting. Ruru also claimed that Yogesh never told her about meeting Akanksha. Shreya openly criticized both of them on her podcast. She called Yogesh a “cheater” and accused Akanksha of not being a “girl’s girl” for getting involved with a committed man.
When Shreya invited Akanksha to her podcast, Akanksha refused. She claimed that Shreya had been doing “character assassination” of her on various podcasts. This existing feud spilled over into the Lock Upp house, leading to the explosive fight.
