The end of a long journey is officially in sight. Kyoto Animation has dropped a brand new trailer and the final key visual for Sound! Euphonium, The Final Movie Part 2. The studio also confirmed that this concluding chapter will hit theaters in Japan on September 11, 2026. This announcement comes as the first part continues its run in Japanese cinemas, which started on April 24.
Fans have been following the Kitauji High School concert band for over a decade. The anime first premiered in 2015. With this second part, the story of Kumiko Oumae and her friends will finally wrap up after 11 years. The new trailer, which includes English subtitles, gives viewers a look at the emotional final acts of these characters.
The Final Trailer Shows Kumiko and Mayu’s Conflict
The newly released trailer runs just over a minute. It focuses heavily on the relationship between the protagonist Kumiko Oumae (voiced by Tomoyo Kurosawa) and her rival, Mayu Kuroe (voiced by Haruka Tomatsu). The video does not hide the pressure both girls face. It shows Mayu with tears in her eyes and highlights the intense rehearsals as the band prepares for the national competition.
The trailer also includes brand new cuts that were not in the television broadcast. Viewers can see scenes from the school festival. There is also a brief shot of characters holding their graduation certificates while looking at the sky. The message is clear: this is the final performance for the current third-year students.
The tagline on the final key visual reads, “And then, the final song begins.”
A Look at the Final Key Visual
Along with the trailer, the staff released the “final key visual” for the movie. The artwork shows the main cast of characters walking together. They are moving in the same direction, likely towards the competition hall. The illustration captures the spirit of unity the band has built over the last few seasons.
Taichi Ogawa is directing this film, with series director Tatsuya Ishihara acting as chief director. Jukki Hanada is back to write the script. Akito Matsuda is composing the music, which features heavy involvement from the Senzoku Gakuen College of Music.
