Spider-Man: Brand New Day is not even in theaters yet, but its merchandise is already making waves online. Cinemark has revealed a new popcorn bucket for the upcoming film, and the design has sparked a wave of NSFW comparisons across social media.
The collectible is designed to look like Spider-Man’s iconic web-shooting pose. It features a large cone-shaped web structure meant to hold popcorn, with a straw running through the middle so fans can snack and drink at the same time. The white webbing bursts upward from Spider-Man’s wrist, creating a visual that has many fans doing a double-take.
The Internet Reacts to the ‘Spiderman Jizz Tornado’
Social media users did not hold back when sharing their thoughts on the design. One Instagram user wrote, “We need to chill on the popcorn buckets, I think.” Another joked, “Chum bucket remove the ‘h’.” The most blunt comment came from a fan who said, “I don’t want a spiderman jizz tornado thank you.”
Some fans questioned how the design made it through the approval process. One person commented, “And someone approved thatโฆ Amazing.” Another added, “No one actually thought about the cup, I see.”
The response has been so strong that some are wondering if the design was done on purpose. “The industry has been intentionally making these popcorn buckets look dirty for publicity ever since the Dune 2 bucket,” one person argued. The reference is to the Dune: Part Two sandworm popcorn bucket from 2024, which also went viral for its questionable appearance.
Not the Only Questionable Superhero Merch
The Spider-Man: Brand New Day popcorn bucket is part of a larger trend. Earlier this year, a promotional cup for James Gunn’s upcoming Supergirl movie went viral after fans noticed its design looked suspiciously like a body part. The internet quickly dubbed it the “Supergirl foreskin cup,” and many assumed the images were AI-generated. They were not.
The pattern has become hard to ignore. Studios and theater chains have seen what happens when a collectible goes viral. The Deadpool-designed Wolverine popcorn bucket from 2024 also drew attention for its unusual design.
Other Merchandise Options Available
For fans who prefer a less controversial collectible, there are other options. AMC is offering a Spider-Man mask bucket and a classic red-and-blue suit-style tub. Regal has a Spider-Man head-style bucket and a “Wall Crawler Popcorn Tin” featuring the hero on a building. These designs have received much warmer reception.
Cinemark’s full collection also includes a 32-ounce Spider-Man bottle, a themed blanket, and a popcorn container with a Spider-Man lid. However, the web-shooter combo has become the main attraction.
