The final season of Netflix’s global hit Squid Game is coming soon. The official trailer for Season 3 dropped at TUDUM 2025, revealing shocking twists, deadlier games, and the return of fan-favorite actors—including Park Sung-hoon, whose recent controversy still lingers. The season premieres June 27, 2025, and promises an explosive ending to Gi-hun’s fight against the deadly competition.

The trailer shows Lee Jung-jae as Gi-hun (Player 456) at his lowest point. After a failed rebellion in Season 2, he now faces betrayal by the Front Man (Lee Byung-hun), who was secretly disguised as a fellow player. Gi-hun screams at guards, “Why didn’t you kill me? Why did you keep me alive?” as he struggles with guilt and a new set of brutal games.

One of the biggest surprises at TUDUM 2025 was the return of T.O.P, the former BIGBANG member. This was his first major public appearance since leaving the K-pop group in 2017 after a drug scandal. His role as Thanos in Season 2 won over fans, and his live comeback thrilled audiences.

“The way they chanting ‘T.O.P T.O.P’ oh SEUNGHYUN you’re really A SUPERSTAR.” – Fan reaction on Twitter.

However, Park Sung-hoon’s return was met with mixed reactions. The actor, who plays Cho Hyun-ju (Player 120), faced backlash in late 2024 after accidentally sharing an adult parody image of Squid Game on Instagram. The post came shortly after the Jeju Air crash tragedy, making the timing even more controversial.

Park deleted the post and apologized, but the damage was done. He was removed from the K-drama The Tyrant’s Chef and faced heavy criticism. Some fans defended him, calling the mistake minor, while others questioned Netflix’s decision to feature him prominently at TUDUM 2025.

“Mistakes happen, he owned up to it and the rest of the world moved on.” – Fan comment online.

The Season 3 trailer confirms the stakes are higher than ever. Players face deadly new challenges, including a jump rope game and a gumball machine that splits them into teams. Meanwhile, the Front Man continues hosting the games for wealthy VIPs, while his brother, Jun-ho, searches for the island—unaware of a traitor in his group.

Creator Hwang Dong-hyuk said the final season will test Gi-hun’s humanity. “The story questions whether Gi-hun can overcome his shame and rise again to prove that values like conscience and kindness can exist in the arena.”

While Season 3 ends Gi-hun’s story, Netflix plans to expand the Squid Game universe. Spin-offs and an American adaptation by David Fincher are reportedly in development.
