The wait for more adventures with Captain Pike and his crew finally has an end date. Paramount+ has set the official release for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 4, and the first teaser trailer is now available. The announcement happened at CCXP Mexico, where cast members shared exciting details with fans. The new season will start streaming on Thursday, July 23, 2026, and it will have ten episodes.

Release Date And Weekly Schedule

Fans across the world can mark their calendars for July 23, 2026. New episodes will arrive every Thursday after the premiere. The season will run weekly until the finale on September 24, 2026. This schedule follows the same pattern as the previous three seasons. Unlike some streaming shows that drop all episodes at once, Strange New Worlds keeps the weekly release model. This allows fans to discuss each episode before the next one arrives. The show is available on Paramount+ in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and India.

The Teaser Trailer Reveals New Surprises

The teaser trailer, shown at CCXP Mexico, gives fans a look at some wild new adventures. One of the most talked-about moments shows the crew visiting a planet with dinosaurs. Rebecca Romijn, who plays Number One, simply told the crowd, “There’s dinosaurs!” The trailer also shows horseback riding and a very emotional moment between Kirk and Spock. Paul Wesley’s James T. Kirk gives Ethan Peck’s Spock a tight hug, showing how their friendship has grown. The trailer also includes some scary moments, with La’An Noonien-Singh walking through a crashed spaceship when a pale hand touches her shoulder from behind.

The Main Cast Returns For Season 4

All the main cast members are coming back for the fourth season. Anson Mount leads the series as Captain Christopher Pike. Rebecca Romijn returns as Lieutenant Una Chin-Riley, also known as Number One. Ethan Peck is back as the young Spock, and he has a slightly updated hairstyle that looks closer to the classic Leonard Nimoy look. Celia Rose Gooding returns as Nyota Uhura, and she says her character is changing.

Gooding shared, “She talks back. She stands up for herself. I think we’re getting closer and closer to Nichelle Nichols’ Uhura.”

The rest of the cast includes Jess Bush as Nurse Christine Chapel, Christina Chong as La’An Noonien-Singh, Melissa Navia as Lt. Erica Ortegas, and Babs Olusanmokun as Dr. M’Benga. Paul Wesley returns as James T. Kirk, and Martin Quinn plays the young Montgomery Scott. Carol Kane also returns as the Chief Engineer Pelia.

What To Expect From The Story

The official description for Season 4 says the crew will face both inner demons and outside threats. Captain Pike and his team will travel to strange new worlds, meet new characters, and see some familiar faces. They will also fight terrifying aliens while trying to keep a bright and hopeful future alive. Paul Wesley teased that the new season will explore more of Kirk’s past.

Wesley told the crowd at CCXP Mexico, “We explore a little about Kirk’s past and the demons that are haunting him.”

The teaser also shows Captain Pike and Number One fighting together in a phaser battle. It has been a while since audiences saw these two leaders on an away mission together. Rebecca Romijn spoke proudly about the work the team has done.

Romijn said, “We’re so proud of this show, and we’re really proud of season four — and season five. We really think it’s our best season yet.”

The Show Is Ending With Season Five

It was already known that Strange New Worlds was renewed for both Season 4 and Season 5. Now, reports confirm that Season 5 will be the final chapter of the series. The fifth season has already finished production, and it will have only six episodes. This is shorter than the ten-episode seasons that came before. The final season will introduce two legacy characters from the original Star Trek series. Thomas Jane will play Dr. Leonard “Bones” McCoy, and Kai Murakami will play Hikaru Sulu.

Paul Wesley also shared a special moment about William Shatner during the presentation. Shatner had given his blessing for Wesley to play the younger Kirk. Wesley called it a “lovely, beautiful passing of the baton” and said Shatner did not have to do that.

The Future Of Star Trek On TV

The release of Season 4 comes at a changing time for the Star Trek franchise on television. For the first time in over ten years, there are no new Star Trek shows in active development. Strange New Worlds will end with Season 5, and Starfleet Academy will also end with its second season in 2027. This means the franchise on the small screen is taking a pause. However, a new Star Trek movie is in development, though details remain limited. For now, fans can look forward to two more seasons of Strange New Worlds, starting with Season 4 this July.
