Calabasas Confidential star Suede Brooks opened up about her past relationship with Drake, claiming she received alarming text messages after their split that left her scared to go outside for months.
Suede Brooks, who currently stars in the Netflix reality series Calabasas Confidential, recently sat down with Bunnie Xo on the Dumb Blonde podcast. During the June 28 episode, the 25-year-old social media personality spoke openly about her brief romance with the Grammy-winning rapper in 2022.
Brooks explained how she first met Drake. She was staying on a friend’s boat in Saint-Tropez, and her friend’s father had hired Drake to perform at a party there. She said the experience was exciting at first.
“It was amazing. He’s such a great guy,” Brooks said on the podcast.
She also cleared up how their connection started. Brooks mentioned that some people thought she entered his world, but she set the record straight.
“I feel like the narrative that was spun was, like, I kind of stepped onto his territory, when in reality, he came onto our program,” she explained.
Relationship Timeline and Breakup
Drake and Suede Brooks were first linked romantically in July 2022 after they were seen together in Saint-Tropez. Brooks confirmed they dated on and off for a few months after that initial meeting. She would travel to Toronto to spend time with him.
“We dated … I would say, like, on and off for a few months,” Brooks recalled. “I would go see him in Toronto, and then one day I was like, ‘I’m tired of this.’”
She pointed to lifestyle differences as a major reason the relationship ended. She found it hard to keep up with his demanding schedule and global fame.
“He lives such a big, fulfilled, busy life. I personally couldn’t keep up with that,” she said.
Alleged Threats After the Split
The conversation took a serious turn when Brooks described what happened after they broke up. She claimed that she received text messages that made her fear for her safety, especially because of Drake’s power and influence in the music industry.
“[I was] getting text messages that he’s gonna have bitches fold me up verbatim, that’s what he said,” Brooks alleged.
She was 21 or 22 years old at the time and living in Los Angeles. Brooks said the messages came from a misunderstanding. Drake apparently thought she was talking negatively about him in LA, which she denied.
“I was like, for what? It was all miscommunication. He thought I was saying something that I didn’t. He thought I was talking like shit about him in LA when I never was,” she stated.
The fear became so intense that Brooks said she stayed inside her home for three months. She did not want to step outside.
“I didn’t leave my house for like three months. I didn’t step outside. I didn’t, like, go out, at least, because I was scared, especially somebody of that power,” she shared.
Brooks explained how terrifying it was to hear such words from someone with Drake’s status. “When you hear those things said to you, coming from the most powerful artist in the world, that has so much power and can do the unimaginable within the snap of a finger, it was very scary,” she said.

Despite her frightening experience, Brooks made it clear she does not hold a grudge against Drake. She spoke about him with a mix of caution and admiration.
“I know I’ve grown a lot from it, and I know he’s grown a lot from it. I think also during that time it was emotional for both of us, ’cause it was just like, a big miscommunication,” she reflected.
She still thinks highly of his talent and personality.
“He is so talented, I know he has a great heart,” Brooks said. “I wish him nothing but the best in his future. I hope he finds somebody that he loves and cherishes for the rest of his life. It wasn’t me, and it got to a point where it was almost like I physically and emotionally can’t give you what you need, so I’m gonna step away.”
She added that Drake is actually one of the funniest people she knows and has a big personality. Brooks also noted that she hasn’t spoken to him in a long time.
“I don’t really like to speak to a lot of my prior flings or men that I’ve dated in my past. Once you lose me, I’m gone,” she said.
