The comedy war between Sunil Pal and Samay Raina has started again. Samay Raina brought back his famous “aap brush kyun nahi karte?” joke during the India’s Got Latent Season 2 premiere. Sunil Pal did not wait long to respond. He fired back with a sharp comeback through an Instagram Reel featuring mimicry artist Jay Verma.
India’s Got Latent Season 2 launched on June 20, 2026, on Netflix and Samay Raina’s YouTube channel at the same time. The show quickly became the No. 1 show on Netflix India. The premiere episode featured Alia Bhatt and Sharvari as guest judges. They came to promote their upcoming spy thriller Alpha.
Sunil Pal’s Playful Yet Sharp Comeback
Sunil Pal addressed the ongoing controversy through a joint Instagram Reel with Jay Verma. Jay Verma perfectly copied Samay Raina’s signature mannerisms while Sunil delivered his lines.
The video started with Sunil taking a light-hearted dig at Samay’s name. He said: “Samay Raina, main tujhe issliye maaf kar raha hoon kyunki raat ke time hum show karte hai aur tere naam ka matlab hi raat ka time hai. Samay matlab time aur Raina matlab raat. Raat ke time ki hum respect karte hai.” (Translation: “Samay Raina, I am forgiving you because we perform our shows at night, and the very meaning of your name is ‘nighttime’—’Samay’ means time, and ‘Raina’ means night. We respect the night.”).
Then Sunil delivered his main punchline aimed at Samay’s repeated joke about his teeth. He said: “Bhai, main brush nahi karta hoon tune aisa mujhe bola tha na? Par Samay Raina tu toh brush karta hai, tere muh se itni gandagi kyun nikalti hai bhai?” (Translation: “You told me I don’t brush my teeth, right? But you actually do brush yours—so why does such filth come out of your mouth, man?”).
The Origin of the Samay Raina and Sunil Pal Feud
The tension between Samay Raina and Sunil Pal started last year. Sunil Pal openly criticized the inappropriate language used in the first season of India’s Got Latent. He suggested that Samay should learn the art of clean comedy from Kapil Sharma.
Samay Raina responded during his comeback stand-up special Still Alive. He claimed that Kapil Sharma himself wanted to appear on India’s Got Latent. He also called Sunil “insecure” and “frustrated”.
The two comedians came face-to-face on The Great Indian Kapil Show last month. During the episode, Sunil repeated his criticism of Samay’s comedy style. Samay shut it down with his now-famous joke: “Yeh sab toh theek hai, aap ye batao ki aap brush kyun nahi karte?” (That’s all well and good, but tell me this: why don’t you brush your teeth?).
Kapil Sharma stepped in and asked Sunil to forgive the younger comedian. However, Sunil refused to back down. He stated that as a senior, he could only offer advice and not forgiveness.
Samay Raina Revives the Joke on India’s Got Latent Season 2
Samay Raina brought back his infamous joke during the Season 2 premiere. The moment happened when a contestant mentioned the specific brand of toothpaste she uses. Seizing the opportunity, Samay joked that she should gift some toothpaste to Sunil Pal as well.
The move showed that Samay was not backing down from the feud. He continues to use the joke that has become a signature part of his comedic rivalry with Sunil.
