What Happened in Episode 20: Chronoa the Hero, Part 1
Episode 20, titled “Chronoa the Hero, Part One”, took the story back 2,000 years into the past. The episode focused on the mystery surrounding Chloe O’Bell, Hinata Sakaguchi, and the legendary hero known as Chronoa.
The Time Loop Revealed
The episode revealed that Hinata, who was believed to have died, was actually transported to the past along with Chloe through Chloe’s Unique Skill called “Time Travel”. Chloe explained that every time Hinata dies, she is sent back in time along with Chloe, creating a time loop.
However, this time something is different. In previous loops, Hinata would die after Rimuru died. But in the current timeline, Hinata died before Rimuru. This change is a major clue about the true identity of Chronoa and suggests that the future may be different this time around.
Chloe and Hinata’s Journey
After Hinata’s soul entered Chloe’s mind, the two of them traveled back 2,000 years, to a time before Lubelius was built. Chloe revealed that she has been using the name Chronoa to hide her identity. During her journey through time, she formed a connection with Luminous and became involved in important events related to Veldora and Lubelius.
The episode also showed that Chronoa is the hero who was believed to have sealed the Storm Dragon Veldora in the past. The Rozzo family, led by Granville Rozzo, revived Chronoa for their own purposes, and her awakening is tied to the current conflict.
The Shizu Mask Connection
A major reveal in Episode 20 was that the mask worn by Shizu – which Rimuru has been carrying – was actually a gift from Rimuru himself in the past. This confirms that Rimuru’s actions in the present have already influenced the past, and the time loop is more interconnected than anyone realized.
What Episode 21 Will Cover
Episode 21, titled “Chronoa the Hero, Part Two”, will continue the flashback to 2,000 years ago. The episode is expected to dig further into Chloe’s past and reveal more about the connection between Chloe, Hinata, and Chronoa.
The anime is expected to adapt Chapter 144 of the manga. After the flashback concludes, the story will likely return to the present timeline in Lubelius, where Rimuru and Leon are facing off against Chronoa.
