The Boys Season 5 Episode 5 dropped a massive surprise on April 29, 2026. Episode 5, titled “One-Shots,” promised a Supernatural reunion with Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins joining Jensen Ackles. But viewers got way more than they expected. A whole group of Hollywood stars showed up playing themselves. Then almost all of them died in brutal, bloody fashion.
Supernatural Stars Padalecki and Collins Show Up as D-List Supes
The big draw for this episode was seeing three Supernatural veterans together again. Jensen Ackles plays Soldier Boy on The Boys. Jared Padalecki appears as Mister Marathon, a former member of The Seven who lost his spot to A-Train. Misha Collins plays Malchemical, a Supe who can create deadly poison gas from his body.
Soldier Boy and Homelander visit Mister Marathon’s Los Angeles mansion to find clues about the missing V1 serum. Mister Marathon is now a washed-up celebrity who makes low-budget action movies. He spends his time hosting poker games for his famous friends.
Collins’ character Malchemical tries to knock out Homelander with his gas breath and succeeds. He then begs Soldier Boy to kill his own son. The plan fails badly. Soldier Boy snaps Malchemical’s neck without hesitation. Padalecki’s Mister Marathon meets an even worse end. Homelander stomps his head into the floor after Soldier Boy breaks both his legs.
Seth Rogen Gets Cut in Half at His Own Poker Game
Seth Rogen is not just a cameo star on The Boys. He is an executive producer of the show. He has shown up in small roles before, like in fake Vought movie trailers. Episode 5 gives him his biggest appearance yet.
Rogen plays himself sitting at a poker table with other celebrities. He jokes that he does not actually like weed, even though everyone thinks he does. When Homelander walks in, Rogen freaks out. He talks about other famous people who have already disappeared into Vought’s camps.
The end comes fast. After Malchemical knocks out Homelander, Mister Marathon tries to kill Soldier Boy. But Soldier Boy keeps dodging. Each time he moves, Mister Marathon runs straight through another celebrity. Rogen tries to escape but Soldier Boy grabs him and throws him into Mister Marathon’s path. The speedster cuts Rogen in half at the torso, leaving his top half and guts on the floor.
Kumail Nanjiani Returns to The Boys Universe
Kumail Nanjiani has appeared on The Boys before. He sang a parody of John Lennon’s “Imagine” in Season 3’s “Herogasm” episode. He also voiced a character in the animated spin-off Diabolical. In Episode 5, he plays himself sitting next to Rogen at the poker table.
Nanjiani’s character tries to convince the other celebrities to speak out against Homelander. He says they are “storytellers” with power to “inspire hearts and minds.” He also makes a joke about being muscular now, referencing his physical transformation for Marvel’s Eternals movie.
His death comes when Soldier Boy points him in the wrong direction during the chaos. Mister Marathon runs through him seconds later.
Christopher Mintz-Plasse Wants Michael Cera Gone
Christopher Mintz-Plasse, famous for playing McLovin in Superbad, shows up as a paranoid version of himself. He spends most of the episode trying to get Homelander to like him. He even offers Homelander a joint, which gets rejected harshly.
Mintz-Plasse’s character suggests that Michael Cera might be a Starlighter, which is a crime punishable by death in Homelander’s America. He admits they are up for the same movie role and says it “would be pretty good if he got vanished.” This dark joke about sacrificing a friend for a job shows how scared everyone is.
Soldier Boy tricks Mintz-Plasse into running straight into Mister Marathon’s path. He dies along with the others.
Will Forte Celebrates Bill Hader’s Execution
Former Saturday Night Live star Will Forte delivers one of the darkest jokes in the episode. He tells the poker table that the best day of his life was when Vought executed Bill Hader. Hader is Forte’s real-life friend and fellow SNL alum. In the show’s universe, Hader got killed for speaking against Homelander.
Forte says Hader’s death opened up more acting roles for him. He also claims he was the one who turned in Channing Tatum to the authorities. Soldier Boy uses Forte as a human shield against Mister Marathon shortly after.

Craig Robinson has the shortest cameo in the episode. He plays himself walking out of the bathroom while the chaos happens downstairs. He mentions eating bad Danny Trejo tacos. When he sees Soldier Boy, he gets excited and shouts, “Soldier Boy!”
Soldier Boy immediately grabs Robinson and puts him between himself and the charging Mister Marathon. Robinson explodes on impact. Fans of Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Office were shocked by how quickly the show killed him off.
Fan Reactions to the Bloody Celebrity Massacre
Social media exploded after the episode aired. Many fans did not expect the show to kill so many famous actors in one scene.
One X user posted a simple “RIP” tweet honoring Seth Rogen’s death, while another wrote: “Not Craig Robinson.” A third fan praised Misha Collins, saying he “killed his 3 minutes of screen time.”
Fans also loved the Supernatural reunion, even though it ended with Ackles killing his former co-stars. One fan called it the best scene of the entire season so far.
