Netflix has given an early renewal to Guy Ritchie’s crime series The Gentlemen, ordering a third season well before the second season even arrives on the streaming platform. The streamer also released the full-length trailer for Season 2, which is set to premiere on September 3, 2026.
The renewal announcement comes amid widespread speculation that Meghan Markle is in talks to join the series in Season 3. However, conflicting reports have emerged about whether the Duchess of Sussex will actually appear in the show.
Season 3 Renewed Before Season 2 Even Airs
Netflix officially confirmed that The Gentlemen will return for an eight-episode third season, with Guy Ritchie returning as creator, writer, and director. The renewal is part of a broader announcement that included renewals for other UK favorites like House of Guinness, Legends, Being Gordon Ramsay, and Formula 1: Drive to Survive.

Meghan Markle Casting Speculation
The renewal announcement comes amid significant speculation about Meghan Markle potentially joining the series. Reports earlier suggested that the Duchess of Sussex was in talks for a role in Season 3, which would have marked her most substantial scripted acting role since leaving Suits.
PEOPLE magazine reported that Markle “remains in talks” to join the crime comedy, but “no deal has been finalized”. The Hollywood Reporter noted that she was in “advanced discussions” and that the part was “currently being written” for the third season.
However, the story took a turn when former Vanity Fair and New Yorker editor Tina Brown claimed that Markle’s reported casting had been withdrawn. Brown wrote in her Fresh Hell newsletter:
“I learned this morning that the casting of Meghan Markle in season 3 of Guy Ritchie’s Netflix series ‘The Gentlemen’ has been withdrawn. The backlash in the U.K. was so intense, it became untenable to go forward. This does not bode well for Meghan’s acting comeback in the U.K.”
Brown’s report remains unconfirmed, and neither Netflix nor Markle’s representatives have publicly addressed the claim. Some subsequent reports have disputed her account and maintained that discussions remain underway.
The casting speculation comes as Markle and Prince Harry recently announced they would be moving back to the U.K. with their two children. The Gentlemen is both set and filmed in England.
