Tulsa King returned on Friday, October 23, 2026, with an episode that slowed the action down just enough to let the show’s emotional weight land. Episode 2, titled “Blind Rooster,” confirmed that Margaret Devereaux (Dana Delany) and Governor Cal Thresher (Neal McDonough) are truly dead after the plane crash in the Season 4 premiere. The hour also delivered a quiet but devastating reveal about Bodhi (Martin Starr), while Dwight Manfredi (Sylvester Stallone) faced a fresh political threat from the new governor, Amanda Clark (Gretchen Mol).

What Happened Previously

Season 4 opened with two major shocks. First, Quiet Ray made his power play at the mob council meeting by placing the severed head of a Buffalo boss on the table. Second, Dwight learned that Margaret and Cal’s private plane had gone down over the Pacific Ocean, with everyone on board unconscious. The premiere ended on that cliffhanger, leaving Dwight to process the loss of the woman he loved.

Dwight Faces the Aftermath

The second episode does not waste time on false hope. Margaret and Cal are dead, and Dwight is forced to sit with that reality. He stays stone-faced through a crew meeting, unable to talk about Margaret or even say her name. The grief shows in smaller ways. He snaps at Bodhi with a cruel line, asking why he is even there after Bodhi suggests the crew should give Dwight space before getting back to business.

Quiet Ray‘s man, Vince, arrives in Tulsa as an emissary, and Ray shows a rare moment of humanity by acknowledging that Dwight lost “his girl”. The conversation ends quickly because Dwight cannot process the sympathy yet.

Amanda Clark Moves Against Dwight’s Business

The new governor wastes no time. Amanda Clark orders her attorney general to pull Dwight’s liquor license, framing it as an end to a “culture of complicity” in Oklahoma government. She is a rule-follower, which makes her a different kind of threat than Cal ever was. The show also plants the idea that Clark is connected to an AI data farm billionaire, someone who wanted Cal out of the way and now wants Dwight’s distillery land. Dwight’s empire is being squeezed from a direction he cannot fight with fists.

Bodhi’s Backstory Changes Everything

The episode’s most important scene comes near the end. Dwight and Spencer go to Margaret’s ranch to unlock her computer. Dwight gives the ranch to Spencer, which Margaret willed to him. Bodhi stays behind and tells Dwight that his refusal to grieve will kill him.

“You’re holding onto a time bomb, and if you don’t release it, it will explode. Right now you’re just numb, going through the motions.” — Bodhi

Dwight calls it survival. Bodhi calls it surrender. Then Bodhi shares his own story. Before Dwight entered his life, Bodhi had a wife and a daughter. Both died in a car accident.

“I was in denial — refused to grieve, angry at the world. Just like that blind rooster that screams into the darkness until I realized that if I didn’t let it out, that grief would kill me.” — Bodhi

Martin Starr said the reveal had been hinted at in earlier seasons but never fully explored until now. He described the scene as a chance to give the two characters a new way to connect through shared pain. The episode ends with Dwight sitting in a church, finally listening to Margaret’s last voicemail.

Tyson’s Side Plot Goes Wrong

Tyson (Jay Will) is in trouble again. The ecstasy pills he stole in the previous episode were laced with a sedative. Strippers at the club start passing out, and the police are called. Tyson is quickly identified as the dealer. Both the police and a mysterious figure named English Dan are now looking for him. The subplot keeps Tyson in his familiar role as the crew member whose schemes create more problems than they solve.

Goodie and Vince Stumble Into a Hate Group

Goodie and Vince take a road trip that stops at Schibeaux’s Chicken and Ribs. The restaurant turns out to be the meeting place for the Aryan Apostles, a white nationalist group. The two Italian men are offended when the leader insults anyone with an ethnic background. They rob the place and drive back to Tulsa drunk. The detour is a strange but entertaining break from the heavier material, and it echoes the white supremacist storyline from Season 1.

The Fake Wine Scheme

Leonardo Timpone sold Dwight a bottle of wine for $3,200, claiming it was a rare Italian vintage. Bodhi suspects it is a forgery, and with Bigfoot, they confront Timpone. He admits the wine is fake and that he is really Lenny from New Jersey. Instead of punishing him, Dwight’s crew decides to work with him. The scam becomes a potential new business opportunity.

Character Story Progression

  • Dwight Manfredi: Starts the episode unable to grieve. Ends it in a church, listening to Margaret’s voicemail. The wall is cracking, but the loss has not fully landed yet.
  • Bodhi: Reveals a wife and daughter he lost in a car accident. The quiet dispensary owner becomes the emotional anchor of the episode.
  • Amanda Clark: Establishes herself as a genuine obstacle. She is not a villain in the traditional sense, which makes her harder to predict.
  • Tyson: His stolen pill scheme backfires. The police and English Dan are now after him.
  • Spencer: Inherits Margaret’s ranch from Dwight. She is stepping into a larger role in the crew.
  • Goodie and Vince: Return to Tulsa after a bizarre road trip and a robbery at a hate group meeting.
