Lupin Part 4 arrived on Netflix on October 23, 2026, with eight episodes — the longest chapter yet for the French gentleman thief. Omar Sy returned as Assane Diop, now four years into a prison sentence, only to be pulled back into the game by a copycat using his name. The season delivered a new family secret, a bitter father-son fracture, and an ending that left Assane’s fate hanging in the balance. All eight episodes dropped at once, and the story moved from a maximum-security cell to the hunt for a legendary treasure.
What Happened Previously
Part 3 ended with Assane surrendering to the police. He made a deal to protect Claire (Ludivine Sagnier) and Raoul, hoping his family could live quietly while he served his time. The finale revealed that Hubert Pellegrini (Hervé Pierre) was in the cell next door, a final twist that promised more trouble ahead.
Assane had spent three parts chasing Pellegrini for framing his father, Babakar, who died in prison for a crime he did not commit. He stole the Black Pearl, faked his own death, and rescued his mother, Mariama (Naky Sy Savané), from captivity. The cost of those victories was his freedom. He turned himself in so Claire and Raoul could stop looking over their shoulders.
The Copycat Who Framed Assane
Part 4 opens with Assane one week away from early release. Four years of good behaviour have earned him a chance to walk out and take Raoul to Senegal, the country of his father’s birth. Those plans collapse when a thief using the Lupin name hacks into Paris screens and announces two simultaneous museum robberies.
Police lock Assane inside a glass chamber, restraining his hands and legs. The robberies go ahead anyway. Captain Sofia Belkacem (Shirine Boutella) chases the thief and falls from a building, leaving Youssef Guédira (Soufiane Guerrab) devastated. Assane appears back inside the chamber, insisting someone staged the thefts using an LED screen and forged chamber documents.
CCTV footage appears to show Assane at the Paris robbery. The stolen painting turns up in his cell. Guédira stops believing him. Assane breaks out of prison to clear his name and find the person wearing his mask.
Adèle: The Copycat and the Daughter
The copycat is Adèle (Laïka Blanc-Francard), a young woman who has been searching for her birth parents. Her search leads her to Juliette Pellegrini, Hubert’s daughter and Assane’s former partner. Twenty years earlier, Juliette became pregnant with Assane’s child. Hubert sent the baby to an orphanage in England and told Juliette the child was stillborn. Juliette never told Assane because their lives had already moved apart.
Adèle grew up without knowing her father. She took on the Lupin persona to get his attention. Her goal is the French Crown Jewels, a treasure tied to Louis XVI that many believed was only a myth. Juliette confirms the treasure is real and has been helping Adèle search for it.
The Guardians and the Hidden Treasure
The Crown Jewels are protected by four families known as the Guardians. Each family passes the duty down through generations. The Pellegrini family is one of the four, which explains how Juliette knows so much about the treasure’s location. The other three families are willing to do anything to keep the jewels hidden.
Assane tries to warn Adèle that the treasure is a legend. He has the girl arrested, then learns she is his daughter. Their team-up becomes the centre of the season’s back half, with Assane pulled between protecting a child he never knew and keeping Raoul safe.
Claire and Benjamin’s New Relationship
Claire and Benjamin Férel (Antoine Gouy) are in a relationship. The reveal landed in the first episode and gave the season one of its biggest personal shifts. Ben has been Assane’s closest friend and accomplice since childhood. The change adds tension to every scene the three share, especially once Assane is free and trying to rebuild his family life.
Omar Sy spoke about the decision to change the dynamic. “We wanted some changes,” he said, explaining that the show needed to move the characters into new territory after three parts of the same patterns.
Raoul’s Betrayal and the Helicopter Cliffhanger
Raoul has spent years watching his father make promises and break them. The four-year gap made the hurt worse. Théo Christine took over the role from Etan Simon to play an older Raoul, and the recasting pointed to how much the character had changed.
Seeing Assane bond with Adèle pushes Raoul further away. She receives the attention he has wanted for years. Pellegrini exploits that hurt. Raoul plans his own kidnapping with Adèle and demands the Crown Jewels from his father. He then secretly teams up with Pellegrini and escapes in a helicopter.
Police open fire on the helicopter. Assane is shot while trying to protect Raoul. Claire, Benjamin, Adèle, and Juliette rush to help him. The season ends without confirming whether Assane survives. Netflix has not announced a Part 5.
Character Story Progression
Assane Diop started the season counting down to freedom and ended it bleeding on the ground for a son who had turned against him. His arc moved from retirement to reluctant return, then to a father trying to protect two children he barely knows.
Adèle went from anonymous copycat to Assane’s daughter and the driving force behind the treasure hunt. Her need for a family pulled Assane back into the life he tried to leave.
Raoul Diop moved from neglected son to active betrayer. His resentment, built over years of broken promises, became Pellegrini’s most useful weapon.
Claire Laurent balanced a new relationship with Ben against the chaos Assane brought back into their lives. Her choice to help him after the shooting showed the bond had not fully broken.
Benjamin Férel stepped out of Assane’s shadow as Claire’s partner while remaining the friend who kept showing up when things went wrong.
Youssef Guédira spent the season torn between his faith in Assane and the evidence pointing to his guilt. Sofia’s fall left him emotionally exposed.
Sofia Belkacem was seriously injured during the copycat heists, and her recovery framed Guédira’s choices through the back half of the season.
Hubert Pellegrini returned from his Malaysian prison transfer to pull strings from a distance. His manipulation of Raoul proved he remained the series’ most patient villain.
